Anyone "cheating" with real food

I'm not really sure if this is bad or not??? I'm not eating any sweets (for me ritz crackers are a sweet) but I eat a lot of regular food. It's food we're supposed to have, jerky, cheese, pork rinds, ect.. but I just downed a whole banquet salsbury steak dinner (the $.99 ones). Am I able to eat too much?? My hunger's come back the last 2 months and it's got me really worried. I can also eat a whole container of no-sugar-added yogurt, a 4oz (before cooking) steak, and a whole hamburger patty w/cheese (not together of course). Is this normal or is it too much at a time?? I have a PDA and I found a great program on PocketGear.com called My Personal Diet. The program really didn't like when I told it I wanted to lose 150lbs in 6 months. It told me to see a Dr.) I've been keeping track for almost 2 months and for the last month I've averaged about 800-1000 calories a day. TIA Jen Taylor Oct 26, 05 LAP RNY 100cm w/1oz 300/208/150ish

Jen, Can you eat like this at every meal? Sometimes I can eat what I feel is a lot & other times only a few bites. Of course, what you are eating & the amount is nothing compared to the amounts we used to eat! My hubby also had wls 16 mos ago, so I told him that when I feel really hungry, that's when I can eat the least! When I'm not really hungry, that's when I feel like I eat a ton! He said sometimes he does the same. It's the times we feel the least hungry that we should listen to our pouch the most! We're only a couple of days apart, and facing the same things, so I'm very interested to see what others have to say as well! Hugz, Gina L 260/176/160?? 26W/14's

No way, I don't eat that at every meal . The examples are my main/only meal a day at around 4pm. The rest of the day is snacking jerky, salmon, protien bar, peanut butter, yogurt ect. for the protien. I forgot to mention the "regular" popcorn 2-3x a week and I love coffee (3-4 cups a day) so I use the SF international delight vanilla w/splenda

I don't have any answers but I'm in the same boat and wondering the same things. I keep hearing these horror stories about people who gain their weight back. Last night I heard about a woman who had her surgery 4 months before I did and she has gained 60 pounds back already. I know that it's all about your personal commitment but when I hear stuff like that knowing that I'm going through this thing right now I get a little scared. I'm getting a lot more exercise but I only lost 8 lbs in the last month. [I had a long stall] I, too, am looking forward to what others have to say on this one. DJ 393/291.5/175

Don't feel bad I've only lost 4. On the upside I know I've lost inches because of weight training.

Sadly I can eat ANYTHING I want, and I know cause I've tried it all, cake, chocolate, candy, pork rinds, potato chips, ice cream , tacos, french fries, bread, pasta ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. I can eat only a small amount of some things, and a lot on others, So now I have to rely on will power. I only dump if I eat too fast or don't chew a lot. If I have a lot of sugar I get a little dizzy, but sadly I have to really watch what I eat. Celia

I too can eat everything and anything. I am getting a little freaked out thinking my pouch has streched because I feel I can eat too much. My weight loss has slowed down so much that I am beginning to wrry that I am not going to lose anymore. I had my surgery Oct 5 2005 and have lost 140 pounds but I would like to lose another 100 pounds and am affraid I will not make that since I have very bad food choices because I do not get sick on anything. Of course I go for the bad stuff first. I do not know if you are the same but I feel like I can eat and eat when it is bad food but wiht the good food I can only eat a few bites. Go figure....

It doesn't sound to me like you are eating the wrong things (except maybe the ritz crackers, if that's an everyday thing) or too much. I live by the rule that nothing is off limits, just very limited. And I avoid overeating by measuring my food most of the time. I try to stick to 4 oz at a time. Even if I feel like I could eat a ton before I eat, if I measure and stop at 4 oz, I am very satisfied. I think you're doing great! Marcia Lap RNY 10/27/05 251/152/130

I just bought a food scale and I actually eat out of measuring cups. That should help a bit. As for the ritz it's less than once a week (but they're so good with my mom's home smoked salmon and lowfat cream cheese dip )

Sounds to me you are doing good if you are only at 800-1000 cal's. I eat way more than you do. I can also eat a hole TV dinner. and I do not dump so I eat to much of everything. I have not lost any weight this last month. In fact I gained 6 lb. I have since lost some of that but I am so scared I am going to be one of those that end up gaining back their weight. Man I hope not! If you can keep tracking what you eat you should be fine. Just keep it healthy. Good luck! Deb 392/264-270/???
