5 pounds from goal!
Well, here I am nearly 7 months out from surgery. I'm wearing size 8s and 10s and I have gone from 240 pounds to 145 pounds. When I lose this remaining 5 pounds, I'll be a Century Club member. Life is good.
I'm starting a new job on May 22nd in a new city where no one has ever known me as an overweight woman. I am being given an opportunity to show up in a new place and be 'normal' - no one watching what I eat, asking how much weight I've lost, or what size I'm in now.
I'm not about to forget who I am and where I've come from, but I just want to live my life without all the fuss that accompanies my every move at my current job.
Cheryl
Wow congratulations Cheryl!!!!
I understand what you mean about going to a new job where no one knew the "old" you. Sometimes I think that would be nice! The attn I get at work is embarrasing sometimes, I'm too shy to be thrust into the spotlight like that! I know they mean well but my gosh.
Please post and let us know how you are doing and how you like your new job and city! And the best of luck to you!
Much love from Miami, Carol
Hi Carol,
I'm being presented with a unique opportunity to start fresh. I'm like you - shy - but it is impossible to stay out of the spotlight when your outside keeps changing drastically. It's always a big fuss when I see someone who hasn't seen me in a few months. Then, they call over a few friends, and everyone here knows I had WLS -- so the questions start.
If I had a chance to do it over again, I would have told everyone I had my gallbladder out and never mention WLS. It's an invitation to others to pry into your personal life and ask you questions.
Love back!
Are you anywhere near the fires?
There were some pretty bad fires just south of me yesterday and last night, I could see the smoke as I headed south on the turnpike coming home from work. I say bad because they were very, very close to homes and people were out in their yards with their lawn hoses trying to fight them themselves!! Right around me there isn't really any brush type areas that can catch fire, but areas that are trouble spots are all around. It's always pretty scarry this time of year! Then the rainy season starts and we have to worry about flooding, then hurricane season! Yes, Florida is a blast
You are going to do great in your new job - enjoy!!! Talk to you soon, take care, Carol
