I didn't know there was a board for Oct WLS paitients. This is great I will check it out more often. I'm 6 months out and down 111 pounds. It will be great to talk to people in the same stage I'm in.

Topic: RE: How much can/do you eat?
Hi I eat to much IMHO I can't still eat a whole can of chicken noodle soup which sounds totally backwards from what others say about the liqueds but I can eat a whole banquet tv dinner the small ones. Sometimes I can't though and those days tickle me. I still don't eat bread, but My dietician informed me that when I eat cheese and deli meat on crackers that is still bad. She said NO CRACKERS what-so-ever. Well that bites. I was a big meat eater before surgery so I thought the protien wouldn't be a big deal but when You take the bread and even cracker out of that equation that just royally bites. !!! Best Wishes Shell

Topic: RE: All scales are different!!
Hi I get really aggrevated about this also!! My Surgeons scale has me at 192 my PCP has me at 182 and my scale has me at 182. So You can guess what numbers I choose. I hate seeing the numbers at the surgeons it puts a weird let down feeling in me when I get on there. I try not to think about it. You have done awesome. Best Wishes Shell

Hi! Discouraged! You're doing great! Never take the scale for granted, remember as you exercise you gain muscle and but lose fat. Inches is what you may want to keep track, remember you once was in a size 24 now in a size 16, you go girl! Hang in there, turn your frown upside down! Look where you were to where you are now. Hang in there and God Bless!

aw hun try not to be discouraged but try and remain positive. When was the last time you lost 60 lbs. If you are anything like me you can say umm never. The weight you lost right before surgery should be looked at too. Why??? Cause the first weight you loose is water weight. You just started before surgery is all. So you lost that first 20 to 30 in water before while the rest of us lost it after having had the surgery so of course you would think you are loosing slower cause the water weight comes off fast and easy its the other weight that we fight with. So that being said you are prolly close to par with the rest if not past us What is your weight now? Size 16 aint all that bad either. I too started at 24 and i can tell you this from size 16 down to 12 comes quickly. The difference in fitting into 16 to fitting into 12s is like 30 lbs or less. I am 5 10 my presurgery weight was 283 on surgery day i was 276 and i was into a size 16 around the 210 mark now at 183 im a size 12. Trust me 16 to 12 is totally doable keep your chin up hang in there and do drink the protein drinks it helps maintain and build muscle which in turn burns fat more effectivly for us. kindest regards deb

Topic: Very Discouraged
I had surgery 10/06/04. At the time of surgery I weighed 277 down from about 292. I have lost only 60 pounds and today is my 7 month anniversary. I saw my doctor last week and he said I am doing great. All my bloodwork looks great, I am taking all my vitamins, and am no longer on any type of prescription medications. I have to say I do feel great. I am down from a size 24 to some 16's. I can tell a big difference in my clothes and people who haven't seen me in a long time are complimenting me on looking great. I am just finding it hard to stay positive. I am compulsive about stepping on that scale. It seems like I lose weight every other month. I was wondering if any of you think I should go back mainly on protein drinks like at first to kind of jump start this weigh-loss or if you have any other suggestions. I am desparate to get to the 100 pound mark! Thanks! Robyn
