Topic: RE: Weight creeping back!!!
Hi I had reached 145 lbs when the weight loss stopped (in December). I didn'****ch what I ate and the weight started piling on again. I got up to 156 lbs before I stopped myself, got back to basics with eating and started working out. I am now 143 lbs and it seems to be going well. Don't lose faith. Start writing down what you eat. Make sure to eat protein first and add in some light exercise to your daily routine. I know it sounds harsh but after 18 months we really have to work at it and if I want to lose weight today I simply have to diet Best, Kolla Lap RNY 18/10/2004 323 lbs vs 143 lbs - It's a new leash on life

I wonder if you're truly eating as much as you think you are? It's been so long since we've had "normal" portions that anything beyond the usual tiny amounts might feel that way. I've found that I've been more "head hungry" of late, but when I actually try to eat what I thought I wanted, I'm unable. I also find it (oddly) reassuring when I do need to dump! It reminds me that the surgery is still working! If you truly do think you may be eating more than you'd like, start weighing your food again --just to see. Take your portion first and then just find out exactly what it is. If it really is more than you should have, you'll know what kind of modification you need to make. But my guess would be, if you're having at all the same experience as I am, that it's not really as much as you fear. Hope that helped, Julaine (down 150 pounds so far!!!!)

Topic: RE: plastic surgery
I just had my first meeting last week to discuss the tummy tuck and upper leg skin removal. Yes it does need to be medically necessary, and the Dr's office is putting everything together now for pre-approval. I fully expect that I'll have another fight on my hands (it took a year and a half to be approved for my VBG! Hopefully it won't be that long again - but I have a different insurance carrier, so we'll have to see.) Dr. Chua tells me that most people are back to work within 1-2 weeks. (1 if its desk/office work) and that although it is more of a recovery than the bariatric surgery, it isn't as bad as my c-section was. They are only removing skin, so there aren't the layers of muscle and things to recover from this go around. I figure whatever the pain may be, it will be worth it. (And after all, pain is managable!) I can scarcely believe that I'm really discussing this at all. 18 months ago I was SO FAR from where I am now. I'm down 150 pounds and I'm SO VERY GRATEFUL!

Hi everyone, I think my problem is, I don't drink enough water like I was in the beginning. I use to drink alot of Propel. I carried a bottle of it around with me and now I'm lucky to get 2 glasses of water a day. Hum, My plan is to head for Costco buy a case of Propel and get back on track with the water intake. I know for me if I eat sugar the more I crave..BAD STUFF! I feel sick if I eat over 10grams at one time. I have sent a pic three times but it hasn't been posted yet. Tee

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to have read your post because I've been freaken about this too. At times I feel like I can't get enough to eat throughout the day and other times I'm not that hungery. I think I know what my problem is, I haven't been drinking enough water! Yep that is it for me. I was very good in the beginning drinking Propel and tap water and now I'm lucky to get 2 glasses of water a day. So today Im off to Costco to buy a case of Propel. I remember how much fuller I was when I was drinking more water. Hope it works for you too. Terry (Tee)

Thanks so much for your responses!!! I am glad to hear I am not alone in the way I am feeling. I wonder if it is possible to lose 10 more pounds this far out. I think if I can do that then I would be happy. Then again, keeping it off is the hard part. It seems like I go up five and then down five then right back up. Laura

Hi Laura, I feel the same way...kinda scary...It seems like I eat all day long...cant eat alot at one time..but I'm always snacking. Stay away from the pastas and the breads...ice cream doesnt agree at all. I can eat regular candy and probably eat too much of it...not chocolate but hard candy, I swear I crave it. I also weight myself everyday since bypass surgery and if I see that scale go up at all...i watch it big time. Not going there again..or i hope not. My portions seem to be getting bigger as well. Laura, I definitely know how you feel. I can eat pretty good sized portions at times as well. Working out will def. help you burn off the extra calories, however I will forewarn you that the harder your workouts, the more voracious your appetite will become. I have pretty much worked out from the first month out of surgery, and I have always had a good appetite. I also eat a little something every 2-3 hours. It is really scary at times, because I am soooooo scared of gaining and going back the other direction. After speaking with a nutritionist, I have found that theres nothiing wrong with eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, as long as you are making good choices for the most part. (nobody's perfect all the time) I also weigh myself every single day. I have done this everyday of my life since gastric bypass though. I know that this dosen't work for everyone, but it is my way of always keepiing track of the good , the bad, and the ugly. Best of luck to you, just know that you are not alone in your feelings. Just keep on doing the right things, and you should be fine. It is normal to be able to eat larger portions at this point. I have also heard many people rave about fit day journals and such that keep track of your calories etc, maybe this would be agood option for you as well. Hope at least something I've said can be of some help to you. Best wishes!!!! Gina

Topic: RE: april 27 is my surgery date
I just had my circumferential lower body lift and umbilical hernia repair on April 13. This has been a relatively pain free process. I don't consider myself at goal either before nor after this surgery. This procedure has been much more uncomfortable than my laporoscopic roux-en-y procedure I had, but not anywhere near the pain level I imagined it would be. During the surgery, they used epidural and general anesthetic. Then kept me wired to an continuous feed epidural for 2 days, and had implanted a localized pain pump in my abdomen, which last for 3 days. Sent me home with the pain pump (which was automatic and allowed for additional bursts of novocaine) and with darvocet. I took the darvocet for 2 days, and then went straight to Tylenol. Now I am taking less tyenol. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch. Helen
