Topic: Do you feel like your failing?
It has been over 6 months since my surgery. I find that I snack too much, don't drink enough water, don't get in enough protein, and can't seem to consistently exercise. It feels overwhelming to me. Not nearly as overwhelming as it did prior to surgery but sometimes I feel scared that it is just a matter of time before I screw up this opportunity and gain the weight back. So far I have consistently lost weight but I don't really feel "in control" like I know I do sometimes. I liked it so much better when I was counting protein grams, exercising, and drinking my water. I guess I let it slide a little and now I feel like I have to start over. Has anyone else experienced these feeling so early out? I'm sorry for sounding like a big pathetic baby. I was just really, really hoping I wasn't alone in this and that somehow I will find my way back to being "in control". Patty 260/173/160

I have had the same issue for about the last month. I could do w/o it. Its scary to have to have those munchies come back. I have increased the frequency of my gym visits to counteract my appetite. Do you think our bodies are really that hungry or is this head hunger?

CONGRATS on your progress! I wish I was a 5/6. I dont think I ever wore that size! I am now starting to get into 14's -- in the "normal" size section of the store -- no longer "plus sizes". Susan

ME TOO ME TOO!! Like both of you...I seem to be eating non-stop these last couple days. I know it's not good and have really made an effort today to do better. Thankfully I did...but I managed to drink about twice as much as usual. Everytime I felt like I wanted to eat, I would drink a bunch and fill up on liquids. Wasn't quite as satisfying as eating, but it worked well. If I had to guess I'd say our appetite is returning... Hope it gets better! Lisa -104.4 lbs 31.6 til goal 10/7/04

I feel hungry more often than I don't. The past few weeks, I have given into that and been grazing all day! I finally snapped out of it and have been drinking more water or a diet soda between meals instead. In fact, I just stood in front of the opened fridge for five minutes, looking for something "good"....finally grabbed a lemon water and sat my butt down here on OH for some motivation. But...I do get hungry! Often. Lots of times I am hungry within an hour and a half or two hours after I finish a meal. And I definately go through cravings - right now its fish....haddock and scallops. I have had them at least three times in the past week....had them for dinner tonight. It was banana chips for a few days until the darned container was finally gone. Don't you know, I had another in my hand at the grocery store tonight, but I put the back on the shelf and walked away. One day I hope to be able to buy them for my kids - they love them and are good for them - and be able to control myself to stay out of the bucket! I swear, the more I eat, the more I WANT to eat, so I am glad to be "back on the wagon" yesterday and today. If you can tolerate diet soda....the bubbles really make you feel full. Has your appetite increased since surgery? Mine is crazy these last 2 weeks, but may be stress. Sorting it out and wondering if others are having increased appetites - cravings? I am eating too much and WILL get that swinging the other direction - dang it.

Lynn- FYI, most days I eat between 1000-1200, my nutritionist and surgeon told me if I don't keep it at this my body will think it is starving and not let go of the pounds. I think you are doing great! Mayra

Lynn - I think you are right on at 1000 - 1200 a day. My dr said that is where I should be, but I can't help it - I am such a slow loser, I just feel better when I keep it to under 700. I'll tell you though, on the days I don't sit here and keep track of my calories, I EASILY go over 1000. At 1200 a day, that is still going to make you lose. There is certainly nothing for you to worry about - and notice how many people do not post on this thread.....we really have no idea how we compare on the "Grand Scale" since we only have a select few that post their daily menus. I do it to hold myself accountable, but love to get other meal ideas - I am still obsessed with food and I am admitedly a FoodTV Junkie. I read cookbooks like they are novels LOL
