Topic: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
Happy anniversary to me and all my October surgery buddies.
As I was taking a shower tonight, I was thinking of where I was 1 year ago (just coming out of surgery and in alot of pain ). Then I got to thinking of all the changes that have taken place as a result of the surgery. I'm sure all of us could list many different things but also many things we have in common. I can't resist listing just a few
1. I feel GREAT!! I have more energy now than, I think, I ever
had.
2. Food no longer has control of me. I have control of it. I still have to
work at it every day but I can do it now.
3. My self esteem has returned and as a result, I'm becoming the person
I've always wanted to be.
4. I don't get out of breath.
5. I fit into theater chairs, carnival ride seats, and "normal" people
furniture.
6. I don't work up a sweat taking a shower and drying off
7. I can wear a swim suit and not be TOO embarassed.
8. I enjoy walking and no longer look for a parking place near the stores.
9. I enjoy shopping (and don't work up sweat trying on clothes ).
10. I don't work up a sweat over every little exertion.
11. I can reach places on my body I only dreamed about a year ago.
I think I've listed enough for now, but still need to mention the biggest change in the past year.
Ready ? ? ?
I HAVE LOST 1 7 6 POUNDS
Congratulations to all of us,
Nancy

Hello Karen...congratulations fellow October WLS buddy!!! Most important and above all, God bless you for your new healthier body due to all the people you stated in your message and certainly yourself. You have done a marvelous job. And a full time job it is...I can testify to that myself.
Now, Have I missed something or am I totally brain dead today...in anguish over wanting to lose at least another 10 lbs in the next 8 days. More would be even more welcome. Okay, I will get real here...on with the story...
About missing something or being brain dead... Did you not write that you currently weigh 153#'s, and that on the day of your surgery you weighed 176#'s? Okay, here is where I may be brain dead...help me pleeeeezzzeee!!! Doesn't 176-153=23? That is 23 lbs! Why would you even consider having WLS if you only needed to lose 23 pounds? I don't mean to sound critical if I do or am sounding that way. I am only trying to understand something and possibly educate myself here. Your total weight loss today is 157 pounds. Does that mean that you lost 134 pounds on your own before you had wls? If you could lose that much on your own...why would you need the surgery?
I know there is a deep lesson I am going to learn hear, after I get the answer to this puzzle in MY head.
Thanks in advance for helping me to see/understand clearly!
Audrey
PS: Once again, congratulations on your anniversary and new lifestyle!

Hi Bobbi,
I just want to congratulate you on your one year anniversary! Way to go---you are below goal. Keep up the good work and stay healthy. My 1 yr anniv. is in 8 days. My weight on surgery day was 408, I am now at 255 and I have been down to 249 but it keeps creeping up on me. Got to get into more exercising! my BMI went from 62.0 to 38.0 just obese now...can't wait to be normal weight...if that will ever happen?
Again, congrats!
Audrey

I can't believe it's been a year. I went for my 1 year check up. Everything is going good, except I'm not a taking my vitamins everyday like I should(I know I need to do better). I have gained so much confidence since having this surgery. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Now comes a little bragging....
Weight day of surgery: 232
Current Weight: 124
Total loss: 108 pounds
Goal weight 130
Went from size 22 to a 4/6
Lost 70 inches over all
Thanks for reading,
Bobbi

Thanks, great examples. I totally appreciate it. I am coming up on my one year mark. it is kind of scary. On October 19th I will have been post op for exactly one year. I have lost a lot of weight and I don't really know where I am... but things work out in the end. Thanks for being cool, by realizing that **** just wouldn't happen without it, just continue to remind the peeps, whatever will be will be.

Congratualtions on the anniversary!!! I have been an a plateau for two months and I finally this past weekend lost 4lbs. I cut out some carbs and upped the protein. Everything else I have ben doing the same protein first, veggies, vitamins and water. Good Luck and remember some people continue to loose even after 18 months!!!
