Hello everyone. On the 20 th was my aniversary of the operation. I could not believe it. It went so fast. I started off at 375lbs. and a size 4XL and 30/32 and I am now a size XL and a size 16. I now weigh 225lbs. I am so happy about the reactions that I get from the people when I show my pictures. I feel GREAT!!!!!! I cannot wait until my family from Puerto Rico sees me. Although I live in another state, I feel the same way. Insurence should cover or partially cover the reconstructive end as well. After losing a lot of weight, with all the sagging skin and insurence not covering any re-constructive surgery, unless there are medical reasons. Well, I have a lot of problems with this and wish that insurence companies would realize that the surgery is just part of the problem. I have seen and heard such stories of depression after losing the weight and seeing the body, it kinds of defeats the purpose, although the surgery was a godsend. I know for me, I am lucky that I did not have a lot of weight to lose , but for many, they are getting desperate with seeing their bodies with all kinds of skin hanging and some even wishing that they did not have the surgery because they do not have the money for the re-construction. It is so important when thinking about this surgery that you tell people to make sure that they have some financial means for the skin tighting and removal, and I believe the insurance companies should cover that. Keep up the good work!!

Topic: RE: long...help!!
I was the same way for about 5 months, and it was because I was not eating right and eating nothing but protein bars in lieu of food. I was told from the start that I was not the average weight for the surgery, so it will be a slower process. It's been a year and I have lost 75 pounds and after maybe 10 more, Dr A told me to stop . I am gaunt looking as I have some skin, but I am down to a 10/12 and I know after a lot of cosmetic, I will be the person that I always wanted to be. Don't give up, after the 8 months, I started dropping agin and continue to do so. I would suggest that you utilize your nutritionist and psycologist to address the other issues that are comprimising your weight loss at this time. Also I found in my first year that the support group is wonderful in giving suggestions and support, especially Middletown post op group. Don't sabotage yourself, get the help that you need and the weight will come off. It appears that you have not addressed the causations why you eat, and stress is a nasty culprit. Hope that you can use some of the suggestions and I wish you the best of luck.. keep us posted. PS: Your Dr. understands and he should have been the first one that you consulted with!
