I think you are doing great. Maybe not what you wanted to lose but look at how much you have lost. I say great job!!!!!!
Topic: WLS and estrogen
Has anyone in their experience with WLS had the surgery throw them into perimenopause? I'm 41.
I've had menopausal symptoms and been going back and forth to doctors regarding the symptoms trying to get relief. The worst of the symptoms are the constant migraines and insomnia.
Any thoughts? What did you do?
It took almost a month but my doctor gave me an estrogen patch and didn't run any FSH test or anything on me. I saw a gyn yesterday and she wants me off the patch for 2 weeks and then get a level. But she treated me as if I was taking her time for just migraines. I seriously doubt vaginal dryness has anything to do with headaches LOL.
Please reply. Thanks.

Topic: RE: He says I've failed
Just want to paste some info I found on tooter's website that has given me (and I hope you all) encouragement. I hope she doesn't mind me borrowing from her website. For those of you who may not know tooter - she is a member of this site and has lost over 200 pounds. She is an inspiration. She was down further than I am at this point in her journey, however and I'm older by almost 20 years. Of course - we're not supposed to compare our weight loss to other's folks - different bodies - different results. But who doesn't???!!!
"You wonder if you'll EVER make goal (you've likely heard about the dreaded window and fear it closed at 18 months - be aware, I continued to lose to goal for 20 to 22 months)."
Onward !!! Anybody still there?????
Topic: He says I've failed
My 'friend' (over 500 #s) tells me I've missed the 1 year window by not losing enough weight & not exercising enough. (-144) Still at 226# Maybe he's right. His therapist (who is supposed to know about these things) says we're supposed to get as much off in the 1st year. - I'm worried I've not done enough and now it is too late to get to goal. Sorry to be so down .... I know its partly jealousy and it also accompanied me telling him that maybe he should CONSIDER surgery because he is killing himself with the weight - (he won't because he "loves to eat too much"). I'm afraid there is truth in it? I still wanted to lose another 66 pounds at least. Maybe 15-20 of that is plastic surgery weight loss. That would be another 50 pounds to lose. Regretting not doing enough .... SIGH.
370/226/160?
Topic: RE: are you still losing?
Thanks for your reply. I've had the strangest thing happen, I got a recipe for sugar free chocolate chunk peanut butter oatmeal cookies from the bariatricbytes.com news letter. I made these up and they tasted so good I went on a small binge. Now this is not good, but, it broke my 4 month plateau!! I'm finely below 170! 168 this morning. The day I made the cookies I was 174. Mayhaps I wasn't getting enough calories.
Beats me
You are at my goal weight and your looking wonderful.

I have heard that we should cut all carbs, increase protein and water to get back on the losing track.
I have been at 135-137 for the past 2-3 months now. My doc says I need to stop losing, so I have actually increased my carbs and caloric intake. I noticed that I still lose to about 132, but really don't want to drop anymore.

mmmmmmmm, yum, big mac. I remember those, two tasty greasy patties, special fatty sauce, 3 peices bread, salty cheese, pickels!!
Oh NO, please excuse me I've got to go be sick now.
O.K. all better now, LOL
That scale going up is very scary for me also. I broke my plataeu finely. I've lost weight the last three days in a row. The only thing I've changed is I made up a batch of Tooters oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and munched out on them.
Mayhaps I shocked my body into losing.
