Topic: HELP
Anyone have to deal with a Twisted Bowel or Bowel Obstruction post Sugery? I am in contact with my doctor (who happens to be 8 hours away ) for the past 6 months I have been dealing with random abdominal pain. It starts out on the left side then after about 30-60mins I can't breath in and I'm all hunched over. The pain is so bad I vomit. I have my gullblatter out so I knew that wasn't it. I live in a very small town and the ER here is not that great so basicly they treat ya then street ya so the last 4-5x I've gone in they drug me up and send me home when the pain is gone. One time they did do a CT scan so my sugren is reviewing that. He thinks its a twisted bowel but needed to review my CTs with a radioligist. It is the worst pain I have ever dealt with. The thing I'm unsure of is what happens if I get the pain again, what is the worst that can happen if it isn't taken care of in a timely manner? Any information would be great! Thanks guys! Topic: Need Help Getting back on track
prior to going to my first meeting with my surgeon my weight was 395lbs. at the first meeting with my surgeon my weight was 385. the date of my surgery i was at 356. In may i hit 285 - 110 lbs lost. after that point i have not lost any additional weight and have gained weight and am not at 304. i started this week back at the health club and making better food choices. I had lab band surgery and have had several problems after adjustments and not be able to keep any food down. I have stopped getting adjustments and was eating foods that i should be avoiding - ice cream, cookies, chips & dip. this week i am back on track for the last 2 days it got so much harder once you were not limited to soup and blended food. i just need some support to get back with it

Gina, Thank you for your words of encouragement. I just find myself thinking about food a lot more than in the last past year. And I do find that I can eat a lot more. I have such a horrible sweet tooth. I guess it is time for me to start exercising and drinking more water. I cant rely on just this surgery anymore. I really just want to maintain. Congrats on your weightloss...you are doing awesome!!! I know you will make it to goal. Take Care, Laura

Laura, Try not to freak out too much. I am 13 months out of surgery now and find it harder to keep the weight off too. I tend to bobble around the same 3-4 lbs. up and down for quite some time. After swearing that I would never be able to get out of the 160's, I am bobbling around here in the 150's now and wanting to be in the 140's. The good news is that you are weighing yourself still. I think that is real important now especially since we are able to eat larger quantities and more sweets. The honeymoon probably is coming to an end, but at least you know what you have to do to keep things in check. That was the idea behind the surgery to begin with. I try real hard to just keep things out of the house that tempt me. It's hard especially with the holidays here. I always volunteer to clean up, and put food away right away. That way I dont keep picking all day at things that I know that I shouldn't be having. I wish you the best of luck, and Congratulations on making your goal. I am 7lbs. away and cant wait to finally say I'm there!

Topic: Gained 6 pounds!!!!!
Okay I just need to know how everyone else is doing because I am really freaking out here. I went to visit some family over the Thanksgiving holiday and just got on the scale today and it says that I have gained 6 pounds!!!!! I am really depressed about this. I did eat a few things I shouldnt have but I dont think I went over board. I am supposed to start my period soon but I usually only gain about 3 pounds around this time and then quickly lose it and then some. I am really scared that the Honeymoon is over and now its time to work. I am really hating the holidays and all the sweets that will be going around. I have a high tolerance for sugar so I dont really dump unless it is a whole lot. I need to know from those who have had their surgery around the same time if they are still losing or have stopped or are fighting the GAIN. I am below gaol at the present time but if I keep this up I will definitly be in trouble. I cant go back to what I was. I am really scared. Thanks for listening, Laura

You have certainly not failed, and that is crap about the one year window.Sure you want to get as much off inthe year, but htere are some out there that have continued to lose as many as 3 years after the surgery. They will stabilize for a few months and then lose , stabilize and lose. I personally passed the 1 year in October and have lost 10 lbs between October and now...so, keep trying, keep up the good work YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Each one of us lose weight at a different pace. You have not failed but succeded. I am not where I wanted to be at this stage of the game either but I am still better off now than I was last year. I was very close to the 400# mark when I had my sugergery and I am still waiting to get below the 200# mark but I am still losing. For the first time I have the ability to maintain my current weight or cut back even more and lose more. I will reach my goal but maybe not as fast as I wanted. You have done great, keep up the good work, don't let anyone discourage you in any way. If your friend hasn't had weight loss surgery maybe he will consider it. Keep up the good work.

Hey girl... I am not losing weight anymore. I havent lost anything really since June. I am however losing or had lost some inches over the past few months. I was in a 10 in June and now weighing the same thing I can wear alot of 8s. My weight does go up and down depending on my mentrual cycle. I usually gain 2-3 pounds but then it goes away after its over. I am actually 6 pounds under my original goal. 160 is the weight I wont allow myself to get over. If I start heading that way - I will be on pure liquids for a month. Haha.. Take care... Christine 275/154 at goal after 8 mos

GIrl, 144 pounds is never a failure. Even if I didnt lose another pound I would be happy. 144 pounds-- repeat that over and over. You are not a failure. You are doing fantastic! It is jealousy coming from him. I get it from my fat family members but I shrug it off. You are doing fine and you will still keep losing for awhile as long as you are still abiding by all the rules. Take care! Christine 275/154 at goal after 8 mos
