Topic: RE: has anyone exprianced dumping yet?
I drink the Carb Countdown milk all the time, I love it, especially the chocolate version. At first I really didn't care for it, but it has more protein and less sugar than skim milk so I really wanted to drink it. What I did was mix it half and half with skim until I got used to just the carb countdown - now i think its yummy. Unfortunately, with as much milk as we're supposed to drink, it gets kind of expensive. I've also tried the Soy chocolate milk and really really did not like it (the first few sips were ok but it had this weird after taste) and I am allergic to whey, thus ends my milk alternative choices. Anyway, I'd say give both a try and see what works for you.
Good luck!

Topic: RE: How many grams of carbs daily???
Thanks Jennifer. Those numbers look pretty good. I just recently went over the 600 calorie mark, but I have never been able to get in 70 grams of protein. My doctor says 50-80 grams and I have been able to get in around 60 at the most per day. Recently I have been having a difficult time getting my fluids in for some reason. Everything seems to hurt my stomach. Still giving it a good try though.
So far I have lost 38.5 lbs now since surgery. I have been kind of stuck for a couple of weeks. Hopefully that will change soon.
Thanks again to everyone for your helpful suggestions.
Happy Holidays to everyone!

Topic: RE: How many grams of carbs daily???
Hi Rachella,
My Dietitian says I should have the following:
1000-1200 calories per day
64-96 oz water
70-100 g protein
20-25 g fat
100-120 carbs
no more than 15 g sugar per sitting
I did not agree with the numbers she gave me, so I went and asked my surgeon what he thought and here are the numbers he gave me:
600-800 calories
64-96 oz water
70-100 g protein
20-25 g fat
50-60 carbs
sugar as tolerated
I am usually within my surgeons guidelines, not the Dietitian. Just remember, you do need carbs for energy, so do not limit them too much. Just try to differentiate between the good and bad carbs.
Best Wishes,

Topic: RE: Did you tell your co-workers??
I tell everyone that will listen to me...
I have waited 2 years to have this surgery and before and after having this surgery, I have worked very hard to get the pounds off. I have lost a total of 57 pounds. There are somepeople that feel they need to question my eating habits, but I just tell them that I am doing fine and do not need a food-sitter.
There is a girl that works with me that got surgery 2.5 years before me and she chose not to tell ANYONE, except 2 close friends and me (I am in HR and process the FMLA claims).Anyways, I have heard a number of people in the lunch room talking about her and making very rude comments that they know she had surgery and she is lying, and yada, yada, yada!!! One girl even asked me about that other girl. Which I hold her information very confidential. She started in on me.."I know thatyou know if she had surgery." I said "What did she tell you?" She said "She says she didn't" I said "Then she didn't, why are you prying into her life?" She said "I just want to know" I said "I don't know anything"
Then there is another girl at my work that had it and she just told everyone that she switched to eating happy meals instead of eating value meals. Even though that is what she is saying, everyone knows what she actually did and it is ruining her credibility, even though it is none of anyones business.
I am very open with it in hopes that I can help someone else who is on the fence about this surgery. I can share my wonderful experience and maybe they can take the extra step to save their life. The people that I do not know will walk by me and say "I love your hair" or "I love your outfit" because they realize that something is different but con't pinpoint it. But the people that know me will come see me often and tell me how great I look and ask how I am doing,etc...It feels greatto have so much attention.
Best wishes,

Congratulations on your loss. I told myself the same that I wouldn't buy myself any clothes, since I have almost every size in my closet. My sister actually bought me a sweater in a smaller size and it was nice to wear something new. Don't be afraid to try new stuff. I just stick to- it has to be moist, I have to chew well and slow down and if I feel I can't swallow it I don't even try. I am pretty much eating everything (protein related) sometimes for me chicken is to dry as is tuna, I just can't tolerate it. It is all trial and error. I don't do formal exercise yet but I can shop for hours! LOL! Where before I couldn't walk for 5 minutes now I can go to the mall for 4 hours straight! I do go walking in the mall everyday though. Well good luck and continued success for all of us!

I told my supervisor's and they told everyone else. I guess I was the gossip while I was gone. When I came back everyone knew. It didn't really bother me, just the looks I still get. Some people when the saw me after I came back would look at me from head-to-toe and I hate that stare!
