Hi: I am having similar problems. When I eat table food, I end up throwing up a lot. But, I can hold down Doritos. Can you figure it? I can eat several helpings and don't throw up. I had my surgery on Oct. 25 and am down 40 lbs. I can't seem to get the eating/drinking together. Ruth

Ok - I want in too. I have been eating way too many carbs and skipping protein at meals - and I haven't had a protein drink in 5 days. I can actually feel the difference in my body. I feel sluggish. BUT today I had a 2 month post-op with my nutritionist and she read my "brutally honest" food journal and freaked out on me. I felt so bad when I left there - came home and had a protien drink AND had chicken for lunch...NO carbs so far today. No more crackers, chips or orange juice for me...there are enough ymmuy things that are better for me - I have just been lazy the past 2 weeks. Jenn -36

Topic: RE: A VERY SLOW LOSER?
I can relate with all of the above-listed posts. I had a rocky start to this adventure. I actually had my RNY on 09/17/04. A leak was discovered on 09/18/04 and a 2nd surgery to correct this was performed on 09/19/04. I spent 20 days in the hospital (half of which were in ICU) and about 6 days on a ventillator, as I lost the ability to breathe on my own. Strangely, I do NOT remember most of this. When I was released from the hospital, I was on TPN (intravenous feeding, that goes into arm and then into the heart and through the body--I was not allowed anything per mouth until 10/28/04.) This is filled w/nutrients and calories and so when the TPN was finally discontinued on 10/28/04, I weighed the exact same as the day I had surgery. So I guess this is that date I need to use - 10/28 vs 09/17. I have lost 25 lbs since this date and I am trying not to be discouraged. It is hard though when you hear about people losing like 80 lbs and such. I just need to tell myself and believe that 25 lbs in 7 weeks is marvelous!! It has been a couple weeks since I lost the 25 and then one day I will gain 1-2 lbs and then a couple days later lose 1-2 lbs. My weight seems to be jumping back and forth. This all just seems so strange. I have to admit though that it is nice to see other people experiencing the same thing--makes me feel a little more "normal".

At a Christmas party on Friday, I decided to treat myself to a white russian. Oh, I justified it....the milk was my protein :} Well...either I ate too soon after drinking that, or the food was just too much ( a little flounder, a cherry tomato, and a tiny sliver of roast beef)....but I had to leave the party and threw my guts up on the drive home. Probably not the best choice...should've opted for some wine, I guess. At any rate..next time I decide to treat myself, I'll be choosing something a little lighter :}

- My gut used to almost sit up against my steering wheel...now I can fit a whole fist sideways between them - Sat indian-style in the floor with my son playing a video game. hasn't happened in many moons :} - The spousal unit told me that a co-worker of his, after seeing me recently at a tree lighting, asked if I'd been losing weight - Buying jeans WITHOUT elastic! Jeans with zippers and pockets! Levi's! - Last night, at Pizza Hut with hubby and son , watched them eat a whole pepperoni pizza while I ate the middle out of two mozzerella sticks and marveled at how much room there was between my gut and the table in those booths! Y'know, I'm short....I haven't seen big weight loss on the scale, the loss seems to manifest itself in other ways. I think I like it this way better :} Good luck to you all

Congrats on the loss! I had surgery 10-6-04, and I have lost 52lbs. My stomach makes a funny gurggling noise too -- but I havent noticed exactly when it is that it does that. So I dont know if its after eating or not. But it doesnt last long, is not painful or anything -- just feels/sounds strange. ?? ...
