Hi Shell,
By reading these other posts, it looks like we are all in the same boat. I had surgery on 10/19/04, and I have lost 41 lbs. I keep gaining a bit and then losing it, but the scale just doesn't seem to be moving in the right direction. I really need to stop weighing myself daily. For the most part I get in all of my protein and fluids and exercise on the exercise bike when my migraine permits - I usually exercise 4-5 times a week.
I hit a plateau that lasted about 3 weeks and then I lost a few lbs. and now I seem to be stuck again. Oh well - I know that it will eventually come off, but that still doesn't make it any easier. I just want the scale to keep moving in the right direction!!
I do keep track of my protein, carbs, calories, fats, etc on fitday.com Check it out it might help. I have heard that if we don't get in enough calories that we will not lose - that might be my problem some of the time.
Good luck to you and Happy Holidays!
Take care.

Topic: RE: anyone experiencing this pain?
funny you shuold mention that this week, I am 8 weeks out now and for the past three days have had a similar pain though not as intense as you describe. it is about an inch from my main suture line, and feels like it is deep in the muscle. it is not constant but feels like a pulled muscle feels ,a dull intense pain when I move in a certain way. it is usually worse in the mornings than the evenings. I called my surgeon today just incase and am awaiting a call back. I have had no other pain or complications and this has surprised me comming in the 8th week. I have also noticed that I am finding it much harder to eat my evening meal this past 4 or 5 days than previously. no idea why that is though.

That is interesting Joe - makes me wish I had kept a journal of my weight gain! LoL. But thinking back on it, my first real plateau does coincide with a plateau on the way up. Since the last 100 pounds of my weight gain was PCOS related, I wonder if that will affect anything - if it has no effect, then my next plateau should be at 300lbs. Hmmm... hopefully it will skip right over that and go to the weight I held onto for seven years - 275! Not great, but a much nicer place to plateau!
Maybe you shoud hand this idea over to the OH magazine and see if they could do anything with it. It might inspire some people looking into having this surgery to keep tabs on their weight and might be used as another tool to help coordinate the weight loss.
Keep in touch and let me know if it continues to correlate for you,
Rach
Topic: RE: help pain in lower stomach
Hi Deborah,
I'm having a pain kind of in the same area - closer to my left hipbone though. It also feels like constipation or gas, but I can safely say these can't be an issue for me either. I was gonna put in a call tonight to my BS Nurse since mine has been going on for three days - if she gives me any info I'll let you know.
Good luck, hopefully its just our bodies adjusting to the changes,
Rach
Topic: help pain in lower stomach
Hi there,
Question
anyone else experiencing pain in the lower area kinda where your overies would be. Its almost like a constant persistant gnawing pain similar to if you were constipated for a long long time. Although i have been taking explax for the last two nights and soo the bowels are moving. This has been going on for a week now. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Pain on a scale of 1 to 10 would proly be a 3 not anything to run to the er about but annoying. My surgeon is a 8 hour drive away and not in this week sooo was hoping you guys could lend a thought or two.
thanks
kindest regards

Great question
I am not happy that we all seem to hit plateaus, but it is comforting knowing that we all are hitting them and it is not just us failing. It seems that for 10 days the scale doesn't move then BAM 4 - 5 #'s down in 2 - 3 days. Then the dreaded period and 3 - 4 #'s gained, only to be gone when period is over. And wouldn't ya know I have my office visit tomorrow and I am on my period...MWAHHHHH.
Let's keep helping each other through the good and rough spots. Who better to ask than someone who is on the same journey!
Peace
Sheryl
Topic: RE: What did you eat today?
Ok, here is what i have eaten today:
Breakfast - 1 toaster scramble
Snack - 4 sm cubes of kraft cubed cheese
lunch - 8 lil smokies w/bbq sauce
3 slices of cheese over 2 hours (need to get away from the processed cheese and stick to the kraft cubes... much better for me)
dinner - 1 hamburger patty and two bites of cauliflower
(which made me sick, so i cant count this meal, didnt have time to even get thru)
Totals:
Calories - 655 (high cuz of the processed cheese, its a sin)
Fat - 48g (high today)
Carbs - 19g
Sugar - 6g
protein - 22g (would have been more had dinner stayed down)
I am 8 weeks out and have lost 48 lbs... I feel like I am doing badly.. and that I should have lost alot more by now.. but, i should just be thankful that im losing at all...
Good luck to everyone and keep up the good work.. we are all losers...
