Topic: My "WOW" moment ...
I finally gave in yesterday, and decided to go to the store to buy me a pair of jeans .....since all mine are getting really baggy (even the old ones). I had been wearing (pre-op) a size 28W. I decided on a pair of jeans with the elastic waist in them, since the weight is changing so much right now. I grabbed a 24W and a 26W and went off to the dressing room. They were BOTH too big!!!!! I couldnt believe it!! So I went back to the rack, and they didnt have a 22W, but did have a 20W. I thought there is no way the 20 will work, but let me try them on anyway, and see how far away I am....... The 20W FIT PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!! I almost had a heart attack. I knew I had been losing -- but had no idea that I'd be that many sizes down in just 3 months!! WOW!! I'll have to see about getting an updated pic on my profile. This just made my day!!!.....my weekend!!!! Susan 288/228/??

Surgery date 10-12-04. As of this morning I'm down 63 pounds!!! I started at 294 and now at 231. I can't believe I'm going to see the 220's soon. I haven't been under 230 in forever. 230 was the best I ever did on a diet in the last 10 years! So I'm probably gonna cry when I get below that. Happy tears!! I can't even imagine what it will feel like to go out of the 200's and into the 100's. I can't' imagine it but I'm at least hopeful of the possibility now. Wishing everyone the best! Karla

Hello Everyone, Sure hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Eve... My Christmas was great... but was very sick New Year's Eve.. so I spent the night in bed.. Sucked... But, on the better side... I am 10 weeks out and have now lost 68 lbs... I weighed this morning and I now weigh 258 lbs... WOOOO HOOOO i havent been that size in a long time... Im losing the weight but still have only dropped one size... which is ok... I will eventually drop the sizes as well... Strange how that works... some of us are losing the sizes while others of us are losing the weight... Bizarre... dont think I will ever understand it.. But, we are all doing great... Glad to hear that everyone is doing so great in their journey... Keep up the good work and we will all be to goal in no time... Leslie 326/258/170

Topic: RE: How much protien?
Hi Mary My doctors program calls for us to get in at least 50g daily for women and 60g daily for men. I use protein powder Amplify (GNC) w/skim milk so that gives me 20g for each scoop of powder and 8g from the milk. I have one in the AM and one in the early afternoon for a total of 56g, then I try to eat a nice pice of fish everyday either at lunch or dinner I really like the Tailipia it has 21g of protein for about 4 oz. of fish. That bumps me up to 77g of protein not counting any other food intake for the day. I hope this helps anyone looking to get in their protein daily. Good Luck to all!! Hi All I had surgery 10.12.04 weighing in at 278. As of 12.26.04 I had lost a total of 51lbs, down to 227, I have not weighed since that day. I'm getting my fluids in everyday, and most day I get all my protein. I just need to workout more. That is my main goal for Jan. is to start back in Tae Kwon Do 2 times a week to start. I was a high green belt before I just got to big to workout like that. I think you guys have all done a great job losing weight!!! Please dont get caught up on what everyone else has lost and you have not because we are all different and we will not all be able to lose the same way. Good Luck to all in the New Year!! Sherrie

Topic: RE: Sleeping problems...
Hi Rachel. I was having sleep problems for awhile, where my body felt like I could get up and walk for a few miles, but my mind and head were exhausted. I spoke with my nurse about it and she said I was taking too much B-12 and should only take two a week. That really helped when I cut back on that. I still get that way sometimes when I take any vitamins late in the day, so now I have to be careful and only take them in the am, or I will be restless for hours at night. Hope that helps!

Lap RNY was on 10/27/04 and have gone from 321 pounds to 274 for a total of 48 pounds. I have only lost 2 pounds these last 3 weeks! Getting very frustrated!!! But I guess in the bigger picture, 48 pounds is pretty good or so I am telling myself.

That still is about 2 pounds per week. That 2 pounds or so a week will add up over the next months! I know what you mean, I haven't weighed this week, but at 10 weeks, had lost 57, 10 of it before surgery. Have noticed that there is a pattern (so far) that 1 week out of the month is 1 to 1.5 pounds, then the other 3 have been 3 to 6.5 pounds. Hope that keeps up for awhile. There still is a lingering feeling this won't work for me. However, the weight WILL come off with the little amount of food I'm taking in. It will for you too.
