I am 34 and I started out at 335. I am now 187. I went about 3mths were I bounced from 197 to 202. I lost ten lbs this month and I am so happy. My original goal was 170 but I think 180 will be more like it. I have been drinking alot of water and got back on a regular schedule with my vits. I am sure this helped.

Topic: Update
It has been a while since I last posted. So much has changed. I am getting ready to have my consultation for skin removal... I didn't lose as much as I was hoping But my consult is not untill March. I am hoping that I can lose at least twenty more pounds. I am restricting my caloric intake to between 500-600 with protein drink It has been really hard for these last few pounds to come off. I seem to be at a major stand still. anyway I will give it a shot. I will be satisfied no matter how it turns out. A lot of people tell me they think that I am thin enough by the time I have the skin removed I will be smaller than I have in over twenty years... Prior to surgery I was wearing a 6X pull over shirt, now I am in a small. I was 70 inches around my waist now I am 38 inches and when I have the skin removal I am estimating that I will be around 32-34 inches around the waist quite a change. This surgery did save my life. I have been blessed with good results no complications, or ill side effects......

Richard, I am really glad to hear your update. I have been at a standstill for months now but I finally realized my body was waiting for me to get back to doing the right things. Things such as not eating sweets, carbs and anything else I can get into my mouth. I now am working out 5-6 days a week and I believe that I am seeing some real results. Now all I have to do is get weighed. As of 12/05 I had lost 133lbs. That sounds fine and good but June 30th I had lost 133lbs. So for the last few months I was the same weight. Obviously that meant I was doing many things wrong. But today is a new day!!!! Good luck on you weightloss and make sure you keep us all abreast. Erica 10/12/04 RNY

It's moving...but slowly now! I have about 40 more to go.....I am at a stall, but working hard! It's frustrating. I do hear about the stall supposedly where you stalled on the way up....Hope that is the case!

I don't count fat but I do however make sure that the food has a low fat count just to be on the safe side. I am not really sure what amount of fat we should not go over but if you still see a dietician, that would be a great question to ask. Erica

I have been what I believe you call a 'lurker' since my surgery in October, 2004. The 15 months have been an incredible journey, with many ups and downs (more ups than downs). I weighed 379 pounds before surgery. Today I tipped the scales at 265.5! But, I haven't been below 268 since September. Just after the first of the year I re-grouped and have spent the last 10 days eating nothing but protein, and having protein drinks in between meals (at least one a day). I have eaten very few carbs. I began on January 3 at 274. So, getting back to the protein worked! I am going to try to continue that path. It is very hard, because while the surgery has reduced my appetite and keeps me from eating the quantity of food I used to, my eating disorder has not gone away. What I am thanking you all for is the number of times come to this site and found postings by someone who is going through the exact same thing I am going through. Since September, I've bounced between 268 and 274, up and down, up and down. I am praying that I've finally broken this plateau. The postings from the others who are experiencing the same thing has really helped my mind set. Please know that your postings of the troubles you are having are helping us 'lurkers' more than you can know - especially since we don't necessarily post. So, thanks. And please keep posting. If so, what is your limit? I think I may be over-doing it in the fats dept., alot of my protein is coming from cheese, not the processed stuff... real cheddar, string cheese and jack and just about any other cheese that I can find. It is not my main source of protein, I do eat meat, eggs, fish, and seafood. When I am feeling snacky I usually grab cheese, for the protein of course, but now I am thinking that it may be adding too much fat into my diet. Any advice is appreciated.
