Oh Yeah Baby!!
I was feeling my oats( feeling soooo good!) and joined a health club!(3 weeks ago now) and went in for the free trainer supported session(for bariatric pts.).
He was Gorgeous!!! Oh Lordy-Lordy!! So I'm thinking...Ummmm
Gotta not #1 fall, #2 look too stupid getting on and off those contraptions, #3 pass out during exercise, #4 Pass gas upon straining( a terrible side effect of my surgery ) and #5 drown during swimming.
Of course, you have to guess I was failure at #'s 2,3,and4!!
On #3... I am put on the stationary wlaker/stepper/glider thingie???, and he is explaining how to program the keyboard...all the while I am walking, mind you, with hips/legs going higher than God intended outta the bedroom, and he's takin his sweet time explaining... and it's going on ...Ohhh...say... 90 seconds or so, and he finally puts me onto a program for "wt. Loss'. and programs the machine... now 3 min. gone by and when he finally finishes, I'm outta breath!!! AND I stumble off the darn thing right behind him as he's walkin away!!!LOLOL
There went my image of how haelthy I was!! Nothing like a "health" program to show you how crappy you feel!!!LOL
Soo... I ma onto the pool... I can swim!
After doing 6 laps, I get out feeling pretty good and then realize this older gentleman say oh...90! has been in the pool since before I started and is still doing laps!!
But, I love working out and swimming! I feel so naughty, stealing away by myself for this ! I am enjoying the me time. Been a long time since i spent any time on me!!

I have also thought I was losing too slowly. I have only lost 49 pounds in 3 1/2 months. And I have only lost about 1 pound in the last 2 weeks. So I am a bit scared that I will not lose anymore. But from what everyone else is saying, we all lose at different rates.

The whole snack thikng is confusing! Everyone has a different view on it. Some say NO snacking and others say you need to so you keep your metabolism up?!
Topic: RE: Exercising
I try to go to the gym 5 days a weekd but as of late I have been working 60 hr weeks so I have been going about 3 days a week. I ride the bike for 15 minutes which is 4 miles and walk on treadmill for 20 minutes which is 1 mile. If I have energy left I go upstairs and do the toning machines for 30 minutes. I am curious to see what everyone else does too!

Go wit' ya bad self.... Go Maggie Go Maggie Go Maggie...
Unfortunatly, I only ride bikes on the weekend. I dont do much else during the week. Hopefully that will change soon. I have been a member of the Y for several months but havent been yet. I am paying and not using it. Mostly because I dont want to do it by myself. But I am gonna start. I have an 8 year old and we have homeowork, baths, supper, etc
On the weekends I ride my bike on a bike trail. Usually I go 8.2 miles. One time I did 10 miles and this past weekend I did 14.4 miles. I am proud of myself.

I know... Its just so hard. Even before surgery I was not a big drinker. I am going to work on it...

You're SO not the only one I was 263 the morning of surgery on 10/5, and today I'm 212. I thought it'd be more than 51 lbs by now, but I'm not discouraged. My scale did stop moving for 5-6 WEEKS...but...in that time I lost a few clothes sizes, so don't let that scale thing get to you. Your body is readjusting. If you're exercising, your body's building muscle...which weighs more than fat, and stores differently. It could certainly effect your loss. I'm trying, though it's hard, to avoid hopping on the scale. It really wrecks havoc on your mind I still think it's too soon to tell myself this is as far as WLS is gonna take me. There's a lot more to this surgery mentally than I thought Hang in there....it's probably better for our bodies to lose at a slow and steady pace than all at once anyway.
Continued success to you!

Well, I am in the same boat as you. I was 232 at surgery and I am almost 4 months out and only down 48 pounds. BUT - I have only lost 3 pounds since 12/29!!! Only three pounds in a month! I am getting very frustrated - I know I might eat something here or there that I should not - a few bites..not a huge serving. I am workign out almost daily. There is NO way I am consuming more calories than I am burning. Grrrr.
Have a great day, and try not to think about that scale...I am going to try too!
