I love diet coke, but I only had it once in a whle, even before surgery. And I always liked it a bit flat so, I just shake the bottle up real good several times and let the bubbles out - it works even better to shake it up and then let it sit around for a day - goes nice and flat. I only drink diet, caffeine free - it can be counted toward your fluid intake that way.

Topic: RE: HAVEN'T LOST A POUND IN ALMOST 4 WKS
I have only lost about 8 pounds since Christmas.......I have lost 52 since surgery - I was 232 day of surgery and yes, my dr did tell me to expect to lose slower. He told me that I should only lose 5 - 7 pounds per month now!!! And I also have had many, many stalls during the past 4 months.
I have tried every trick - and now I just give up and I am simply eating healhty, drinking my fluids, and exercising......it will come off eventually and I have to stop obsessing about it. It is frustrating though.

Atousa, were you a light weight when you had your surgery?
My surgeon told me my weight loss may be slow because my starting weight was 258.5 the day of surgery. I have lost 52# so far and had many stalls.
19.5 of those pounds were in the frist two weeks post op.
Your body may need time to catch up with the 54# you've lost so far. Did you take your measurments? I bet your losing inches. Every time I've stalled I got smaller.
Just keep to the plan and the weight will start to come off again.

I was a HUGE Diet Coke junkie prior to surgery. But I haven't touched one since the surgery and don't plan on it. My doctor said the carbonation will cause your pouch to expand. I'm doing good just getting in my water for the day!

IS THIS NORMAL? I HAVEN'T LOST ONE POUND IN 4 WKS I AM SCARED THAT I AM NOT GOING TO LOOSE ANY MORE WEIGH. I HAVE LOST 54 POUNDS SINCE MY SURGERY. I THINK I SHOULD HAVE LOST ALOT MORE.
Topic: RE: soda poll.....
My post-op diet states that at 4 months out I can incorperate carbination back into my diet. However, it does stress that it must be diet. Regular sodas have like 9 spoons of sugar in them! I must admit that I did try soda before 4 months(I wont be 4 months for 2 days) and I have had no problems. I don't have it often, at lease not often compared to before surgery. I have maybe 3 cans per week. Pretty much, my surgeon doesn't recommend it before the 4 month mark because it can make us "feel yucky" I have never been told by my surgeon or her office that soda will stretch the pouch. Just to be on the safe side, when I drink soda I pour it in a glass from high above the glass. This tends to help lessen the bubbles, but it still tastes good, not flat! I hope this helps you. Just remember moderation is the key! Go ahead, try it. Just don't go overboard! Remember, caffine helps to dehydrate you so when you have it you still have to make sure you get all of your water in... plus some! Sodas do not count toward your daily liquid requirement!
Have a great day!

Topic: RE: Question
Hi. I just checked your profile and I couldn't find your beginning stats anywhere! I really believe that the weight loss has a lot to do with your beginning weight and height, the whole bmi thing.
I really don't think there is a problem. You and I both had our surgery on the same day. I have lost a bit more than you, but really not all that much... 15lbs. So, If you ask me, I think you are doing wonderfully! You should really be proud of your weight loss, 71lbs is a lot of weight... it is equal to a child!!!
Keep up the great work! You will be fine! Have a great day!

Topic: RE: How many calories??
I get in about 600-700 calories a day. I was told this should be for the first 6 months post op and then we will re-evaluate.
