Topic: RE: 4 month update! OVERWEIGHT! YIPEE!
Hi All! I was an October 6 surgery. . .and wow, is this wonderful, or what? I was 226 at start, and am now 154. My size 14's are getting loose on me! It's absolutely incredible, and every day my husband says how I look like a totally different person than he married! (In truth, I had started to gain my weight even before we were married 11 years ago, and weighed more than this when we got married!) I cross my legs all the time, it's just fun because you CAN do it now, isn't it?!
My weight loss has really slowed, as I was just dumping the pounds off at the beginning, but I'm still encouraged by the numbers dropping on the scale, and have forced myself to stop weighing every day. I now weigh only on Wednesdays and Sundays. It keeps me honest too. Appetite is fine. . .not great. . .but still there, which makes me feel just "healthy" and not like I did something damaging to myself for having the surgery. It's just an entirely different life. I have gone from a DD to a small C which sucks. . .but I have bones I never knew I had before!
Yay and kudos to all of us. . .and keep fighting the good fight! It still isn't easy and every day I battle my food demons. . .but with this surgery, I win most of the time now!

Hi all,
Surgery Date: 10-21-04
Weight Then: 282 (Day of Surgery)
Weight Now:228
Loss: 54 lbs
Congrats to everyone! You guys are all doing amazing!
At the start of this journey I weighed 294, then I lost 12 pounds for surgery, so I am actually down 66 pounds. And while that makes me happy, I am still frustrated that my weight loss has really stalled in last 2 months--I only lost 3 pounds in January! But I have joined a gym, finally getting in all my water and nearly every day I meet my protein goals. I know it will come off eventually!
thank goodness for this site--It helps so much to hear that I am not alone and we all share the same hopes and fears!
I can't wait to see where we all are at six months!

Surgery: Oct. 27, 2004
Start Weight: 364
Current Weight: 295
Loss: 69 pounds
I recovered well, with no major problems. My surgeon released me to work out with my new personal trainer in early Dec. I work out with him for an hour a day on 3 days/week. On the other days, I walk on the treadmill. I am beginning to have slower and slower losses, and it's very difficult emotionally. I'm still eating the same thing and training at the same intensity, so I don't know if it's a mini-plateau or what. I did have one week where I gained 2 pounds and was pretty depressed. I know I'm building lean body mass though, and that's good. I feel healthier and stronger than I have in years! Also, I can't even remember the last time I was under 300 pounds.

Hi everyone.
Here are my stats:
Surgery date: October 19th
Starting weight: 304
Today's weight: 214
---------------------------
Total loss: 90#!!!!
I can just taste that century club!!!!
I really don't know what to say as far as why I have been successful up to this point. I guess I would say it is because I watch what I eat, I try to aim for protein, and I make sure I get AT LEAST 64oz. of water/day... sometimes more! I also believe that if I crave something, even if it isn't the best for me, I have a LITTLE bit of it. I believe that denying myself those things will just set me up for failure. I just practice moderation and I never go overboard. This seems to keep me satisfied and in my opinion it is working well for me!
Congratulations to us all, we are doing wonderfully!

Hi, Sheryl and everyone
Surgery: Oct 21st, 2004
Weight then: 285 lbs
Weight now: 200 lbs
Loss: 85 lbs!
I think not eating for four months helped the loss, but I dont recommend it, lol.
I feel really good, surprisingly. I have to say that it wasnt as bad as I expected, and even if someone told me that I would throw up everyday for four months, I'd do it all over again.
Im still on a weight restriction of 10 lbs, but I go to the YMCA several times a week to lift weights, do the treadmill, bike and some water fitness classes. I do this one called "Aquafit" and it rocks. They target every part of your body without the added strain of pounding on a floor. Its really gentle to the body but still gets your heart pumping!
I have to admit, I have a strange problem. I guess that because I feel so restricted, I turn to food. The strange part is that I dont actually eat it. I chew it up and spit it out. Its not that Im worried about gaining weight, its that I know it will make me sick. Maybe when I can tolerate more foods, Ill crave that less.
Sometimes I dont recognize myself. Ill stare at a "before" picture then look in the mirror. Who is that?
Oh, I know what you mean about feet! I cant believe my shoes dont fit anymore!

Topic: RE: Qestion about eggs????:-s
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with eggs. I was and still am an egg lover as far as taste goes, and I can eat eggs however not as much as I used to. I can eat an over easy egg better than scrambled, and can tolerate scrambled eggs if they are cooked soft. I have been eating homemade breakfast burritos, small of course made with one egg, I can't eat the whole thing. If I am going to eat over easy eggs I can manage two eggs as long as I am not eating anything else with it. I manage to eat about three eggs per week, and even though I can eat two eggs I usually just eat one. Sometimes though what I can eat one day may bother me the next so I am cautious.

Hello Sheryl:
Surgery: October 21st, 2004
Weight then: 377 pounds
Weight now: 267
Weight loss: 110
I have read some of the other reports from people, about the woman who said that her hunger has returned with a vegence. I myself don't get hungry but also have to watch myself when it comes to looking in the frige. Old habbits are hard to break. I am able to tolerate pastas and sauce, or anything for that matter as long as it doesn't contain any granulated sugar. It is hard to find foods that aren't made with sugar, even some of the Lean Cuisine meals contain sugar. I don't really go into dumping but my body rejects it. I had a beef and bean burrito that according to the label had very little sugar in it, It didn't settle well. Other wise I have been blessed. I have had no complications from the surgery as of yet, and do watch what I eat. I don't drink many protein drinks but am getting ready to have my blood checked to see if I need to start B-12 shots. I can't believe that I have lost over 100 pounds. I feel like a brand new person already and am looking forward in reaching my goal weight. I have had one episode of dumping I will not repeat what caused it. Even though what caused it was sugar free, and was probably the sugar alcohols in it. Before this surgery I was losing the ability to walk, and breathe things are so much better. I have bought a few things like sweaters, and a shirt or two however no real shopping yet. My close are hanging off of me and I am beginning to look like I am trying to wear the grunge style lol! I am thankfull and very blessed to have this surgery, it has saved my life.
