Hi there im having a panectomy also on the 30th of march the day before you. I was suppose to be done the 24th of this month but ended up being post phoned for a few days. Well good luck to you and talk at you afterwards

On Mrach 31st I will be having a Panniculectomy for the removal of the excess skin, although I did not actually reach the anticipated Goal that I have set for myself I have reached close to what the Dr said that he would like to see me accomplish,, In fact I am hoping that I can lose that I only have to lose five more pounds prior to surgery, At anyrate I realize that I will have to maintain a commitment to watching what I eat, and what I put in my mouth. It is easier to eat junk foods than it is to eat the right food, because I can tolerate them more, however I will be elinating most of the chips, and snacks from my diet, and will stick to lo carb high protein from now on. Of course once in a while I will allow myself an occasional want. I can't complain about the results that I have achieved, I am far better off than I was 17 months ago. In a few months I will be taking a course in Nutrition, and I will also be starting seminars here where I live to start helping to encourage people to lose weight, whether it be natural or Gastric, I hope that I can make an impact and really be able to help them. I will write more after I have the skin removed. I am hoping for good results from that, And for no compications. Keep up the good work everyone,

It scares me sometimes at the amount that I can eat, and I feel that I eat to much sometimes. I found out on Thanksgiving this year that it was easy to put the weight back on. I gained 8 pounds then because of eating to much sugar free homeade deserts that I was making for everyone else. I have lost that plus more but can't help to think that it has kept me from reaching the actual goal that I wanted. I don't have any hunger at all anymore so I have really began to watch my food intake. The advice in another post is good. Watch your carb intake. Just because you can hold more may not be good to eat more. also there has been a fear for me that I might have stretched the opening of the pouch that goes into the small intestine, this will allow us to eat more.. I can eat a large salad from McDonalds and there are a lot of things that I can eat more of then I think I should. I have realized that I have to stay committed to watching what I put in my mouth. I try to maintain about 900-1200 calories daily and no more, and if I see that I haven't lost anymore weight or I am gaining then I cut back. Starving won't help I went on 500 calories and less for three weeks, and did not lose a pound. Since most of us are at 17 month post op our weight loss has incredibly slowed down. Don't get discouraged, don't give up, You can do it, and don't worry about how fast or slow that you lose, I have found for myself that I can become pretty obsessive with weighing myself, and then getting upset because the scales don't say what I want them to.

I had a tummy tuck on Feb 23. The doctor took off 5 lbs of skin. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and they sent me home on tylenol. It wasn't that painful. I have had a lot of complications with the tummy tuck, and had 2 areas of the incision open up, but I would still do it again! Hope this helps! Danielle Starting weight 294 weight now 150

I'm scheduled for a tummy tuck and arm lift on May 3rd. I'll let you know how the pain goes. My insurance is paying for the tummy tuck and I'm paying for the arm lift. I had lots of documentation of rashes and skin breakdown from two pcps. I was approved in less than 24 hours.

Victoria - I started at 374. Got down to 207 and then gained back up to 212 myself. I can't seem to break through 207 and I'm so close to 199 I am drooling on it. I've hired a personal trainer to help me break through my plateau. But I also noticed that I had added back a bunch of crap to my diet. I was snacking on weigh****chers cup cakes and ice cream bars. While they are "healthy" or low point they were still adding unnecessary calories to my diet. My caloric intake had crept up to 1800-2000 calories and I was merely maintaining rather than losing. I've since dropped my calories to 1000-1400 and I've lost all but 2 of the gained pounds. I'm hoping to continue to lose and get down to my personal goal of 167. I haven't got that far to go. I've come to far to give up now. So, make sure you drink your water. Keep your calories low and protein first. If you're not doing it, exercise. Cut out the snacking. You can do this!!! Lily

I'm thinking about it ... do you STILL have to have a medical issue for them to even cover it, with the insurance? (like rashes, etc., due to the excess skin?) Susan

I'm struggling too ... not sure why. But, like you, I keep losing and regaining the same 5 or so lbs. I hadnt been working out, but since I am now divorced (since 2/10/06....YAY!), and can do so, I am going back to working out at an exercise bed place where I used to go all the time. Starting out with 3 times a week, and we'll see if that helps. I'm getting a roll around my middle of all the excess flab .. and I hate that - especially when it shows !!! Sugar has been a battle -- I'm tryin to make myself stay away from it and eat more meats and veggies ... its really hard! I sure dont wanna gain all that weight back either!
