Tommorow I will be exactly 18 months post op, I had my panniculectomy on March 31st. I had no complications everything went well. I also had my appointment with the Dr who did the bypass surgery, and he is very pleased with the results that have came about because of this surgery and ofcourse my faith. I would actully like to lose five more pounds, but if I do or don't I am happy more with the size that I am now than my weight. It has been a long road in such a short time. I am in better health now than I have been in my entire life. I hope in the future to start helping others. I know that I have to be more focused than I have been in the past, the only thing that my Dr told me was that I needed probably to increase my caloric intake, but whatever I do I will keep a close watch on my weight to maintain it where it is. I still have no hunger, and the thing I have to fight the most is eating out of boredom. I work in a place that is loaded with snack machines, and it is easier for me to digest the snaks sometimes more than it is healthy food, so my solution is not to take any change to work with me, chose healthier snacks, like fresh fruit, or to take advantage of their sugar free flavored water machine. I hope that everyone is doing well on their WLS journey.

In my case my insurance is Medicare. and I will not know if they will cover my procedure untill I receive verification that they actually paid. You may ask someone in the Dr's office what criteria that most insurances look for in covering this surgery. It is a necessarr surgery, and is for health reason other than just cosmetic. One of the web sites that I looked on concerning Panniculectomy surgery, and abdominalplasty said that in most cases most insurances cover the Panniculectomy, however that is up to each individual insurance company. I know this isn't much help. But you may be able to also get more information by going into a search engine and researching different insurance companies, and also get more information on the panniculectomy. If mine is denied, since I have already had this surgery I will have to make arrangements to pay out of pocket. So I hope that I am not faced with that. Good luck in your search, and hope that you can find the answers that you need.

Hello! Congrats! I also had my surgery 10/2004. I started at 358 and now weigh 140. It is amazing isn't it? I think it is a miracle. Sharon

Hi Betty I am still throwing up also, at least twice a day.....every other day. No matter what I eat. My surgeon is nowhere to be found and my PCP is horrible, every visit I end up at the ER paying a high co-pay. I am having other issues but I know I am not alone. If I were you, I would seek another opinion, because I am sure, this isn't the norm. J

i just posted on the lapbad form last night the same issues. i have have not lost weight in over 6 months and have gained a little. i still have over 100 lbs to loose. i am way to far from my goal to lose it all now. plus my insurance did not pay for my surgery and had to pay for it myself. that hurts even more. i am feeling stronger today after my post last night. it helped my from going to chocolate late last night. i started an emotional journal today because my eating has been all emotional. i eat when i am board, sad, happy, stressed you name it. i know i have an addiction to my relationship with food and need to change it. i need to feed by body not feed my emotions. i think i need to go back to a very limited diet. i also need to come back to the message boards. i have not been on the message boards when i was doing poorly. i read about all of the other people that had surgery when i do and feel like a failure because they have been done it and i having a hard time. i ask god and the angles for help. these chalenges are here for me to learn and improve from. i know i may not be to motivational because i am having a hard time to. but we all need to learn from this and grow from our experiences.
