Has anyone had ps yet? I have been debating on it and I was just wondering how much time you were off, if you you would do it again? I have heard that the tummy tuck is very painful, i had open ryn and wondered how comparable it might be? Any help would be great. Thanks!

My friend had her tummy tuck about a month ago and she was in pretty bad pain for a few days but she is okay now. I sent my paperwork into my insurance company today. Hopefully I will get approved. Good luck to you.

I'm thinking about it ... do you STILL have to have a medical issue for them to even cover it, with the insurance? (like rashes, etc., due to the excess skin?) Susan

I'm scheduled for a tummy tuck and arm lift on May 3rd. I'll let you know how the pain goes. My insurance is paying for the tummy tuck and I'm paying for the arm lift. I had lots of documentation of rashes and skin breakdown from two pcps. I was approved in less than 24 hours.

I had a tummy tuck on Feb 23. The doctor took off 5 lbs of skin. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and they sent me home on tylenol. It wasn't that painful. I have had a lot of complications with the tummy tuck, and had 2 areas of the incision open up, but I would still do it again! Hope this helps! Danielle Starting weight 294 weight now 150

I just had my first meeting last week to discuss the tummy tuck and upper leg skin removal. Yes it does need to be medically necessary, and the Dr's office is putting everything together now for pre-approval. I fully expect that I'll have another fight on my hands (it took a year and a half to be approved for my VBG! Hopefully it won't be that long again - but I have a different insurance carrier, so we'll have to see.) Dr. Chua tells me that most people are back to work within 1-2 weeks. (1 if its desk/office work) and that although it is more of a recovery than the bariatric surgery, it isn't as bad as my c-section was. They are only removing skin, so there aren't the layers of muscle and things to recover from this go around. I figure whatever the pain may be, it will be worth it. (And after all, pain is managable!) I can scarcely believe that I'm really discussing this at all. 18 months ago I was SO FAR from where I am now. I'm down 150 pounds and I'm SO VERY GRATEFUL!

LAPBand October 2006 4 fills since. Start weight 315 current 165 goal before PS 158 - 160. Started dress size 24/26 and now am a 10 or 8 depending on cut - my goal is 8 after PS. I have scheduled 4 consults with doctors to see whom is going to be the lucky one :0) I hope to get on the surgery table sometime this fall - October/November. I am cash pay since I self insure for everything but major medical. I am intending to have thigh, tummy, breast and arms and maybe something on my neck. I am afraid of the recovery but I feel like I have come this far in changing my body and my health that it will be worth it. I have never had children or really anything more then my lapband and some dentist work so the idea of extreme pain for many days scares the hell out of me! I am looking at surgeons in Arizona and Florida - if anyone has a good referral send it my way. Best of luck. Margaret
