Hi everyone, I am new to the Oct board, but have been on the main board since October. I didn't even know this one existed (hence the slow learner). I just stumbled on this one today. I was banded in October and was wondering if I could have some of you tell me how much you lost and what you eat in a day. I know I am a slow loser, started at 250 and still not in onderland. Is anyone else a slow loser? I am happy that the scale is going down but wi**** could be a little faster. However, just last month I think I finally reached the sweet spot. Even with that I still am only losing about 1/2 lb a week. I can eat almost anything I want but not a whole lot of anything. Sweets are a problem for me and I struggle with them daily (darn choclate fairy sits on my shoulder almost every day). I do go to the gym Mon-Fri and do cardio for 30-45 minutes and then about 20 minutes of different weight training. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Eileen

Eileen, Wish there was some way I could help you. I had the RNY done so I'm not sure how the Band works as far as how much weight you loose each week. Make sure you drink only water, eat yogurt & drink skim milk. These will help you loose weight. Say away from sugar, go to a substitue like Splendia. I lost 24lbs before surgery just by eating salads, tuna, drinking nothing bu****er. Make sure you stay away from carbonated drinks & sodas. They stretch your new stomach & you'll not loose or you can gain the weight you loss back. Hope these suggestions help! Take care! Wish you the best in your journey!

Hello, Eileen. I had the Lap Band 12-06-04. I have lost 39 pounds since then. Before surgery, I had managed to loose about 12 pounds, so in all, I've lost 51 pounds. I now weigh 184 and I've developed a hiatal hernia. It is giving me fits. Sometimes I go for as long as 5 days with a couple bites causing choking sensations in my chest, and eventually throwing up. My doctor ordered an upper GI so he could see what was going on and if the band was in place. The dr. who did the test told me about the hernia, spasms, and reflux. However, when I went for my regular dr. visit yesterday, my doctor had not even read the report or looked at the xrays. I was so upset, it was a wasted trip (I have to drive two hours to get to his office). So, I know of nothing to do (or not do) to help myself. Sorry, didn't mean to cry on your shoulder. I am a slow loser too, in fact, for a couple months I lost NOTHING! I needed a fill, tho. I think my fill is good, now, but with this choking problem, I can't eat hardly at all. I should be loosing big time, but I'm not. Just 3 pounds this past month. BUT, that is better than none at all!!
