Is anyone back to drinking pop? (sugar free) My dr and nutritionist said diet pop every now and then is fine and my pouch tolerates it just fine.....anyone else enjoying this indulgence again or should I feel guilty? I drink a can a day of diet coke.......just curious. Thanks!!!

I have been back to drinking soda for awhile. It was one of those things that I just had to have. Of course they are all diet. At first it was painful to drink them cause it hurt my tummy but now I do just fine with them as long as I dont try to drink it to fast.

I made a personal choice not to start drinking sodas, diet or otherwise. I once took a sip because I was real thirsty and that was the only cold thing in reach at the time (took a sip of my granddaughter's sprite). It didn't do anything for me. I figure if I can do without them for so long, I can eliminate them all together! Just my choice. Joann RNY 10/20/04 245/169/135ish -76 lbs

Yes I drink it and love it. I like diet sprite the best!

At 6 mos. out, I tried it, and it just didnt taste good at all, to me. So I've stayed away from it. I guess there is a new Diet Coke with Splenda -- so I am wanting to try it. But otherwise ... no soda for me. I seriously miss my Coke's, though .... Susan

Yep - I drink a diet, caffeine free (sometimes I do the caffeine) soda every day. I do better with fountain drinks, I think they are less bubbly than canned, but I can tolerate either just fine. If I am hungry, but its not time for a meal, soda gives me a "full" feeling. Jenn

That's interesting on the "full feeling" ... maybe I'll try one again here soon....... Susan

The thing about the sodas esp the caffenated ones are that they are a food stimulant. They make you want to eat. Drinking a good bit of soda is probably alot like water loading. I do this sometimes to curb the urge to eat.

Yep, I drink it too. You are not alone here, babe. My post-op diet said that I could begin having carbonation after the four month mark. I did try it slightly before that, but only a sip of someone elses. Now, I have my own diet pepsi or coke... not always every day... but I do have it! Amber

Hi Hun! I was ADDICTED to anything diet sodas preop. Now I can't stand them. I drink them and I feel icky, no pain, just icky. I am addicted to home brewed sweet iced tea, with splenda. That's all I drink is iced tea. You might want to try 7/11 Diet Pepsi Slurpee.. yummy!
