What are you eating?
The post about how much we are eating reminded me to ask what you all are eating now.
I know that around 6 months the stomach relaxes more and we can eat a bit more, which is important. I think its quite common for us to think we are over eating again. I guess that is our surgeons call when they see our food diaries.
Considering I was sick and hardly ate anything the first 3.5 months, I too feel I am having too much because now I can finally eat, lol.
So, a typical day for me is:
1 protein shake mixed with o% milk with a scoop of beneprotein added(adds 6g protein) 33g protein total
For a snack i spend about an hour eating a protein bar 12 g
if I dont feel like the heaviness of it Ill have a cheese string 6g
Lunch is usually soup, or a shake, made like above. Ill also munch on a couple strawberries and a carrot stick.
Throughout the day, I nibble on 1/2 of Fibre One cereal.1/2 cup has 15 g of fibre in it. In an attempt to keep things from getting backed up, lol. Had a constipation episode last week and it was horrible.
Supper varies. A lot of the time, I dont end up eating anything, but Ill have some sunflower seeds, a few bites of chicken and mashed potatoes, and if I dont feel like getting another shake in, I drink some milk with a scoop of beneprotein. 15g)
I can not tolerate pasta or pasta sauces, pizza and anything from McD tastes horrible, and I found out the hard way that I cant handle even a nibble of a pancake.
So, whatcha eating, what cant ya eat?

Debb,
So just reading your post tells me that I am eating wayyyy to much. I had surgery on Oct. 12, 2005 and I am able to eat so much more than you have stated. I will tell you what I have eaten so far today:
B- 1/2 cup of yogurt
S- cup of diced peaches
L - turkey and cheese sandwich w/wheat bread,fat-free cheese and
mustard (the entire sandwich).
D - will be grilled chicken w/brocoli
very little water today wich is still crazy because I was drinking about 100oz. a day.
Now tell me, Am I wrong that I am eating way too much? I very rarely get a full feeling.
Erica
I usually have a protein shake for breakfast, salad and a toast for lunch, protein shake in the afternoon, a protein rich meal for dinner (meat or fish) and half a protein shake before bedtime.
I have been counting calories and it seems to me that I am averaging about 1000-1400 calories per day. I walk about 5 miles each day and swim alot and when I exercise more I eat a bit more. I am also taking all my vitamins and I feel more energetic and alive then ever
I don't eat sweets but I am sure that they would make me dump (don't want to find out). Sweet soy products make me dump so I avoid them completely. Otherwise I seem to be able to stand all sorts of food. I had some trouble with chicken the first few months post-op but that is over now.
All of you keep up the good work

I am still frustrated with my eating. Somedays I can eat one food and the next day I throw it up. Yesterday was a bad day. All I ate was 1/4 an orange and 2 tablespoons mashed boiled egg then got sick. It seemed to be the orange that was upsetting. I ate the same amount of orange 2 days before and it didn't bother me. Normal for me is 1/2 bowl of oatmeal for breakfast with 1/4 cup milk, 4 ounces of juice. Lunch 1/2 sandwich, light bologna and cheese or almost a cup of soup, Dinner 3 teaspoons of potato, two bites of chicken or 1/2 c chili. It seems so little. My doctor thinks I'm doing okay. I'm not sure
