The big day past me by...

I've been suck at a 96-98 pound loss for so long I had just about given up! I hadn't lost a pound in over a month so I had become convinced that my weight loss was as good as it was going to get. I have a terrible habit of getting on the scale every time I go in the bathroom. So everyday I would be disappointed - it was even worse when I'd get on line and read about so many of you that had joined the century club!!! Well, I got so down about my slowed weight loss that I gave up... about a week ago I stopped getting on that mean ol' scale. Well, today I found the nerve and stepped on. To my surprise I have now lost 104 pounds! So my big day (of reaching 100 pounds gone) came and went and I didn't even know it. Of course I got on and off that scale about 10 times - and then went over to a friend's and tested her scale, just to confirm the 104 number. But it's official - I've made it - and now I'm praying that I'm going to continue to lose. I started at 294, currently 190, had hoped to get to 130. Wishing you all the best, Karla

CONGRATULATIONS KARLA! I've been stuck at -94. I started at 294.5, so I'm just outside of onderland and the century club. It's so hard to be patient! Good for you. Keep on losing. Karen

Karla, Congratulations! Don't worry about missing the exact Century Club number on the scale... you made it! At my 6 month check up, my surgeon was very pleased that I lost a hundred pounds in six months. She also said to relax, the loss will slow down at this point but I (and other wls patients) should continue to lose for the nex 6 to 12 months. My doctor never gave me an actual goal weight, she doesn't do that, but her assistant told me that it would not be unrealistic to lose down to 140lbs. I am telling you this because we started around the same weight(I was a bit higher than you) and we have lost around the same amount. I don't know your height, but hopefully this encourages you a little bit. Also, I have noticed that as hard as it is, when I try not to jump on the scale at every chance I get, I feel a little better. For quite some time I weighed myself EVERY time I went into the bathroom, and sometimes I even went in the bathroom just to weigh myself. But now I limit myself to when I first wake up and when I get ready to go to sleep...at the MOST! It tends to work better if I skip a day or two, then I notice a loss without feeling quite as bad from not seeing the scale move. I also use My Yahoo for my home page and it has a little option called the diet tracker. It is a great little gadget, you enter your starting weight and goal weight and the lenghth of time you want to make it in and then weigh in periodically, as much as you want. It then shows a graph of your weight loss and tells you what percentage you have accomplished, but the thing I like about it most, is that when you weigh in you can look over all of you past weigh ins and it helps to actually see the progression of your weight loss, it really helps me feel better when I feel like my loss has stalled. Try to check it out, It really does help to put it into perspective... especially when I look at my percentage... I am 73% toward goal! Good luck girl, and try not to let the progress of others get you down. We are all different and you are doing wonderfully! WELCOME TO THE CENTURY CLUB BABY!!!! Amber 304/196/?
