Hi everyone I was just wondering how much everyone is eating or how much they can? Sometimes I feel like I can eat way too much and its really scary. I know its nothing compared to what I ate before WLS I just don't know if I should be able to eat this much just six months out? I could just be over cautious. Just would like to compare to some of you out there. Thanks! Shawnde 310-day of surgery 197-today

Some days I worry about the same thing. I ate 2 egss and almost a whole slice of lite wheat toast for breakfast today. And I ate all but about 2 bites of a cheeseburger from McDonald's the other day. I felt so sick after and had explosive diarrhea about an hour later (nice) so I won't do that again. I can eat an entire Lean Cuisine - depending on which one...like I can eat the whole cheese raviloi one...but can't finish the Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It depends alot though....sometimes, if I've not had any snacks, I can eat a bit more. I don't weigh or measure my food anymore, but I think I eat 1/3 - 1/2 c of food at a time. Of course, there are other times I can't eat more than three bites of something and I feel full, but sitll, I do get worried after I've eaten what I think is a lot of food. Jenn 250/168/150

I dont measure food anymore, either (as someone else had posted). I just eat and then when I feel full, I immediately stop. Otherwise I get sick. If things are kind of soupy -- you tend to be able to eat more, than if they are very filling like a meatloaf or potato. Sometimes I can only eat a few bites, then I am done. It just depends..... Hello, After reading these posts, I am really worried now. I am a little over 6 months out and I can eat a whole chicken breast and corn on the cob. I can also eat almost anything. I think something has to be wrong with me. At times I could be eating and realize that the food that I had eaten was the equivalent of what I would have eaten before the surgery. Do you think that I should be calling my DR's office about this again? October 2004 please help me out. Erica 10/12/05 450/335/?

I also had my surgery in October 2004 so I am 6 months out. I also worried about the same thing regarding the quantity of food. I definitely can eat a lot more then before and a lot of different types of food as well. I have my next appt. with my surgeon in a week and a half, so I am going to ask him about it. I will post again when I have his comments.

Hi all, just thought I would add my two cents! I worry about the same thing as all of you as I can eat almost a whole burrito at Taco Bell. If it is a soft food whatsoever I can eat a cup full. Then I worry and worry about it. But then if I eat something that is high in protein such as chicken I can only get in about 4 oz's. Maybe some of you can try that little test out. It really helps to remind me about how small my pouch is and takes the worries away. Take care!

Hey I am 7 months today!!!!I have lost 130 pounds, and I worry about the same things that you do...I can eat more some days than others...The other day I was at taco bell and I got a soft chicken taco, and I eat it all, and then I cryed worried that was to much... When I go to my doctor on the 19th i'm gonna ask if i am doing alright..He told me before as long as I was lossing, not to worry....I know at times I feel like I'm piggy, but maybe its all in my head...My b-fast consist of 1 egg and 2 slices of thin bacon...Lunch is usually 1/2 of sandwich.Supper would be 3 spoons of mashed potatoes and some kind of meat...I guess we feel like we have over done it....I think as long as I'm losing I will be alright...Good Luck to you all Sandy

Girl, I would not fret over that taco. Those tacos are very small. I can eat one and then even have some beans. I think we feel like we overeat just because we eat. I think some of us (I know me) feels very angry and like I ate too much when I get full. Having that full feeling bothers me and in all reality if you think about how many of those tacos we ate pre surgery we should be happy that 1 satisfies us. It was nothing for me to have 5 or 6... Or 8 Krystal burgers... Now I can eat 1 whole one or just the insides of 2. Depends on if I want the bread or not. I tend to pick at all my food. I have to get off the carbs though. I think they are slowing my weight loss down. I just cant seem to do the meats real well. They really make me full and I am miserable when I am full. Sometimes I have 1 bite too much and its on from there. I still have food issues. Sometimes I order something just for the taste and I will chew it up and spit it out. It satisfies my head. Its something I have to learn to deal with. Being a food addict is hard. Dont beat youself up over that taco. Its okay and once its all chewed up its not 4 ounces. Your okay. Back to the basics... Got to work on getting in the water....

I've been worrying about the same thing lately! I had my 6-month check up with my surgeon and he said I should meet with the dietician and the psychologist just to get me back on track. I met with both of them last week, and it has helped alot. The dietician said I really should only be eating about a cup of food per meal, and we found out I need to eat more protein. I think maybe this reminder of the "rules of the pouch" has helped me, and I would recommend anyone else getting together with their dietician to discuss. Janelle

Hi I eat to much IMHO I can't still eat a whole can of chicken noodle soup which sounds totally backwards from what others say about the liqueds but I can eat a whole banquet tv dinner the small ones. Sometimes I can't though and those days tickle me. I still don't eat bread, but My dietician informed me that when I eat cheese and deli meat on crackers that is still bad. She said NO CRACKERS what-so-ever. Well that bites. I was a big meat eater before surgery so I thought the protien wouldn't be a big deal but when You take the bread and even cracker out of that equation that just royally bites. !!! Best Wishes Shell
