My surgery was Oct. 7, 2004. In mid-January I started losing hair by the handfuls. It has continued to fall out very rapidly for 3 months now. Fortunately, I have thick hair but I can tell a BIG differnce in the amount of hair left on my head. Today, I went for a trim (what's left is still growing ) and my hairdresser said "Girl, you have got a lot of new growth coming in! She's an ! It is thin at the ends but she said thicker than ever at the very root. I have been taking 3000 mcg Biotin everyday and try to make sure I get my protein. No special shampoos except for the shampoo I use for the dry scalp I have developed from cutting out so much fat. The moral of the story is - It comes back....Hallelujah Lisa

Thank you so much for your post, I had my surgery on October 19th and I am losing so much hair especially since my 2nd fill in late Feb. I also have very thick hair and really no one would notice but my bathroom floor tells the truth. I have taken to wearing my hair braided or at least up in a ponytail so I won't be dropping hair all over. Now what is this Biotin you mentioned?

Oh, the hair loss! I, too had very thick hair, so nobody but me and my mother really notice it. But, let me tell you, Boy do I notice it. It started sometime in January and when I bru**** I still have a lot coming out. Around the time I noticed it was beginning to fall out I gave myself a spiral perm and I really think that helped me out. My hair is long, I would say almost to the waist line of my jeans, so the perm helped me keep volume and look like I still have a lot. I think I might be a little odd, but I sort of enjoy having thinner hair for once. Sometimes it gets me down, but other times I am happy because I can actually fit it in some clips and I never could before. But, I also feel that it is something small to deal with for the reward of losing 104 lbs in six months! I did try Biotin and extra protein but it didn't help me any. I was told it is a natural occurance from a shock to the body. I just wonder if it will grow in with a different texture than before, I have heard of that happening pretty often. I think it would be pretty cool to have naturally curly hair for 31 years and then have straight hair... sort of like the best of both worlds! Anyway, keep up the good work and before you know it all of your hair will be back with a vengence! Amber 304/200/?
