Five Months Post-Op, and Feeling Fatter then EVER! ...Am I CRAZY??
Okay, I finally updated my page! (Sorry it took so long...)
I know..., I should have done it months ago,
(update my page)
..However..., I just don't "FEEL" that much different!
Everyone says; "Boy, you sure look different," But I don't really feel any different!
Although the scale say's Minus 70+ lbs. and I lost about 10 inches in my pants size... I still feel like a FATMAN!
Maybe I am Crazy.. I don't know?
How did you feel after five months?
You aren't crazy - by any means! I think we have all gone through that - and there are those of us who still are. I see the difference on the scale, and I see the difference in the size of my pants - but when I look in the mirror - I see the same fat person!!! I am 5 months out today - and I have lost 89 pounds - which is great, but I still feel the same!!! I have had maybe 2 WOW moments, where I just had to stop, and look at myself again. Once was about 3 days ago - and one was about a month ago when I got into a size 16 jeans. Everyone tells me I look "so diffeent", but just like you, I can't see it. I guess it is just our distorted self-image, and we will eventually learn to deal with it...
I hope!!!
Thank You for responding Jolene Kimble ..
And "Whew, thank you so much for your honesty!"
What I didn't say in my original post (was..)
The worse part is, When I was 308lbs. I looked at myself in the mirror, and didn't really think I was all "THAT FAT!"
Wow.. talk about a distorted body self-image huh?
Just being able to talk to people like you.. who have had similar experiences, under similar cir****tances, is a real lifesaver!
Thanks so much for taking the time for a hello!
Blessings to you and yours from Miami Beach, Florida

Peter it is too common to feel that way. You are doing fantastic at 5 months. As for me I look in the mirror and some days I feel I look great and some days I feel like I am still a fat person. I think when I feel negative about myself it is my anxiousness to get to goal quicker then what my body wants to. Something that helps me now is I go to a tanning booth to get an all over tan and it makes me look thinner and it hides the saggyness. It also makes me feel better about myself. When you start to think of yourself negatively, push those thoughts out and replace them with positive ones. Take care, Janice
Thank You so much for your kind words Jan G,
All of you (without exception) have made me feel a lot more positive about myself, and my progress.
Even if we are all crazy, I am in excellent company!
Everyone of you look terrific, and each of you have (individually) given me something positive to concentrate on.. and positive reasons to replace the negativity with a more REALISTIC image of myself at five months post-op.
That is the reason I like THIS board better then the rest!
We are all (basically) in the same bathtub, for the same amount of time.

Peter, I can definately relate to how you are feeling. I started at 281 and I am now down to 220. I look in the mirror and still see a fat person as well, but then again, I AM STILL FAT!! Hopefully in the near future I will be out of the "Fat Range." haha I checked out your profile page and the picture that is showing up with your posts does not look like the same person at all.....You need to check it out!
Hugs to you!
Rhonda
Hello my dear Rhonda Roberts,
Thank you for taking a moment to answer my post, and give me some supporting feedback..
I have problems with body-image, that is for sure!
When I was 308, I thought I looked okitydokity!
I know what you are thinking.. but NO.. I never use drugs or alcohol, or any mind altering substance.
I just thought I looked NORMAL!
Now, (I mean today..)
I think I look flabby, and fat, like an old man in a fat-skin suit.
But (Thankfully) I have gotten some REALLY kind and honest feedback today from this site..(yours included) that state I am pretty normal.. (If 100% of the feedback reported feeling the same way I do.. after the same amount of time.. (5 months) is any judge?)
There is one thing I was curious about.. however Rhonda...
Are you sure you didn't confuse me with my puppy "Krypto?"
Because both pictures are of yours truly. (just a five month span)
Here is my wepage, and you can see more of me (if you like)
(I would be honored.)

Let me know.. maybe I am crazy after all, Maybe I am not ME anymore?
That would answer LOTS of questions
Blessings to you and yours from Miami Beach Florida.

Hi Peter! I am 6 months out now .. and I STILL feel that way. I look in the mirror and still see a fat person, most of the time. Others look at me though, and cant believe it. They say I am gonna waste away to nothing! (haha....I wish!)
Congrats on your weight loss. I am down 95 lbs -- looking forward to hitting the 100 lbs down!
Susan
Thank You so much for the reply Susan,
I don't know if you noticed -that- every single reply to my update posting were unanimous!, we ALL still feel FAT!
(Even though we have all lost a LOT of weight!) respectively!
I appreciate all the honesty from you Susan, and the others *****plied.
I truly believed that "I" was the only one who still felt fat after dropping double-digits in the inches and weight department!
I really did think that I must have been crazy..
But Now,
I feel..
(Dare I say it?)
"NORMAL!"

My 5 month anniversary was March 26. I am down 90 lbs. I still see myself as big, but see that I can do many things I wasnt able to do once before. I have lots of engergy to play with my daughter, clean, cook, etc. Food isn't a problem. I don't dump. That's good, but also bad. I know I have a little too much sugar. I try not to. I am so glad I had this surgery. Good luck. Feel better about yourself.
