BLood pressure

just curious if any of you have noticed a drop in your blood pressure since surgery. Pre surgery my pressure was always 120 / 80 which was always good despite my morbid obesity. but since surgery it has gone down steadily. my February pressure was 90/60, and my pressure this morning when getting my B12 shot was 90/50. I dont feel bad at all, though every now and then I do get a minor dizzy spell usually when standing up fast. the nurse today did not seem overly concerned but the difference is enough to make me have concerns. Just curious if anyone else has noticed a BP drop of any significance and what if anything your doctor has said about it.

Joe I am the opposite. My bp spiked during surgery and has been running a little high ever since. I am still on my bp meds. The doc was not concerned and said it should stabelize soon. Sheryl

Hi Joe My pressure also went down. It used to be 130 to 140/80. Now it reads around 100/60. My surgeon said it was because I was not drinking enough. It is a sign of dehydration. Are you getting all your water in? I also feel good despite iron anemia. Best of luck. Joann 250ish/183/135ish

I get in about 20 to 40 oz of water a day, plus about another 20 to 30 oz of other fluids like 1% milk, cofee or tea, so I dont think I am dehydrated. I was ok with it at 90/60 but this drop to 90/50 just has be a bit concerned. thanks for the response.

Hi Joe, My blood pressure has come down significantly. I was on 2 meds prior and it was still running a tad high--I am now 2 mos off meds and it runs perfect 120/80. If you are not satisfied with your physicians response--make an appt with your primary care doc, or a cardiologist. It is best you know if your mind & heart that everything is o.k. Joan F

Joan, How did your doctor know it was time to take you off your blood pressure meds? I'm on two now, have lost 71 pounds, and am wondering if I'll be able to give up the meds? Janelle
