Appetite Returning w/ Vengeance
I don't know if it is common but I get hungry sometimes. It is not the same intense hungry feeling as before and it only last for a few seconds. I could ignore it if I wanted to. I was not hungry at all for the first 3 months and now it is just like a reminder to eat. I hope to hear from others on this, Janice
Hi Claudia
I don't get hungry but I have been finding myself going to the fridge and looking to see what's inside....and that is an old BAD habit. I seem to want to graze so I have decided to only take what I am going to eat at work for 1 day so the temptation is not there.
I try to keep my appetite down by drinking water. Others have said it helps.
Congrats on the weight loss You are definately doing something right!!

Yup-er-doodle!!!!
I get truly hungery if i go w/o eating for more than 3 hrs.!!
I try to keep some fresh fruit(grapes), jerky, little fish cheese crackers...
I graze on snacks in small amts. and look for protein and healthy products.
I am better doing this than eating meals. I figured grazing worked with my habits, lifestyle and convience better.
Water and sugar free drinks fill out my diet. I hope my confession helps!!

I get hungry all the time. It started right after surgery and then has continued, except when I had a small complication, until present. The big problem for me is determining if I am mouth-mind hungry or physiologically hungry. I get both unlike a lot of other patients I have talked with who do not seem to get physiologically hungry. So, I guess what I am trying to say is that being hungry is normal for some of us....just make sure that it is the right type of hungry before you satisfy it. Drinking a lot when I am mouth hungry does help, so does doing something physical, anything to get my mind off of it. Hang in there and fight through it...
PS. one of the dieticans once told me that if you are getting physiologically hungry and you are eating the way you are suppose to (timing, chewing, content), then it may mean that you need more protein... at the time, I tried it and it seemed to work, though who knows it may have worked as a placebo effect...
I have been hungry since the FIRST day after my surgery!! I eat 6 mini-meals a day and that keeps me from being ravenous! I eat about 200 calories per Mini-meal. That works well for me. I try not to eat ANYTHING between minii-meals so that I don't get into the "grazing" mode and eat continuously all the day long!!! I also try not to eat too many carbs, as they make me crave "more" carbs and sugar!! I major on dairy, meats, and vegetables.
