I'm 4 months out today. Its been a real trip so far My scales read 203# this morning. At the houspital the day of my surgery I weighed 258.5#. Thats 55# gone forever!!! I was 267# at my first surgeons visit. My highest weight was 315# back in 1997. I took my measurments the night before surgery and have lost 30 inches so far. I measure my chest, waist, hips, upper arms and thighs. 8 1/2 inches off my waist and 8 1/4 right off the old hipperrues!! YEAH!! I joined curves a week ago and have already seen an emprovment in my strength. Happy 4th aniversairy all October Babies, Barbara

You are doing great! I have a few more days til my anniversary but I have only lost 50 pounds and 4 to 5 inches each from hips and waist. But thats 50 pounds I would still have had I not had WLS.

Congratulations! Hooray for you...You rock!!! My comment is about Curves. I am thinking about joining but no nothing about the regimin. Do they start off with a beginners class and how many times a week do you go and for how long a duration do you do? Is it dancing movements and machines? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Audrey

Hi Audrey, At curves you move at your own pace. There are 12 machines with a platform between each of them. You just stand on the platform and move to the music. Every 30 seconds you will hear a voice say change stations now. You then go from the platform to the machine beside it and do the next 30 seconds there and so on around the room. I had to start out real slow but have increased my speed and strength already after only a week. I go 3 times a week but you can go more or less. What ever you feel is right for you. I found it a very pleasent setting. No fancy work out cloths. Just jeans and tee shirts or what your comfortable in. We have women ranging in age from 15 to 75. One lady rides in on her hoveround and does just the set down machines. One of the best things is all the machines are stand up or setting. I don't have to get down on the floor. I can't get up on my own yet. If you need more info please e-mail me. Barbara

I think Curves is great. If I could do it anyone can. They have about 11 machines set up with steppers between each one. You do a machine for 30 seconds then the tape will tell you when to go to the next station which would be the stepper. You keep changing every 30 seconds until you go around twice. This with your stretch when you are finished is your 30 minute workout. Everyone does the same circuit. The faster you work the machines the more difficult they are to do. I try to get there 3 times a week but sometimes I can't then I go for a long walk. I will be 4 months on the 21st and am down 55lbs. Lisa B 10/21/04- 313/258
