Ladies Only - Post op on Birth Control Pill

I WASN'T USING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS PRIOR TO SURGERY... BUT I LOST WEIGHT SO QUICKLY.. MY PERIOD WAS COMMING VERY FREQUENTLY. SO I AM NOW ON MY SECONDS CYCLE OF THE ORTHO EVRA BIRTH CONTROL PATCH.... AND I LOVE IT. WHO NEEDS ANOTHER PILL TO SWALLOW. STICK A PATCH ON ONCE A WEEK AND YOUR DONE. GOOD LUCK BECKY DOWN 106 POUNDS SINCE 10/1/04

Hey Jolynn, I too am on Ortho Evra Patch. I started it a few months prior to surgery because I was afraid of the malabsorptin of the pill. I am know to be "fertile myrtle" to my family so I wanted to make sure whatever I was doing would work. When I wanted to get pregnant, I went off the pill one month and was pregnant the next. So obviously my weight was not a factor in getting pregnant like I have read with other people. I have had no problems with the patch and it is much nicer than taking an extra pill everyday. 3 patches come in the box each month. 4th week no patch. You should talk to your OB and discuss what would work best for you. Good luck.

Hi Jolynn, I have been having my period about every 15 days and I'm on the pill. My doc said not work worry about mal absorbstion. He said that hormons are stored in your fat and so when we lose weight so quick we are releaseing alot of hormons. My OB said that with the BC patch you have to be under 195 for it to be completly effective (or 99.9%) jen
