I have read lots of posts from people losing fast like that. I think that the more you have to lose, the more you take off at first usually. Sounds like you had a huge loss at first, than a short plateau and now the weight is coming off again. Congratulations, sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. Robin G

I wouldn't worry about that!!! Sounds like you're doing great and it seems men lose more quickly than women. I've noticed that so far my weight loss pattern is 3 good weeks of 3-5 # weight loss, then 1 week of 1-1.5 #s. Are you getting enough food in? I'm probably not because of nausea/gas/vomitting on some bad days. Then other days, I get enough of food down. I think if you're eating what the doc and/or your dietician advised you're probably right on the mark. You could also ask your surgeon if the weight loss is on the mark as they usually have a pretty good idea what the loss should be at this point in time compared to other patients experiences. Congratulations on 80 pound weight loss - that is wonderful!

Hi Steve, Sounds to me like you are right on track. Several things must be taken into account to realize weather you are 'normal' or not. Your beginning weight has a lot to do with how fast you will lose weight, the general rule is that the higher your beginning weight is, the faster it will come off. The other important thing to remember is that you are male. Men tend to lose faster than women. Perhaps if you find some extra time you can look at some profiles of other post-op men, preferably with the same starting weight. It is never good to compare yourself with others, but is is always nice to know that you are right on track! As far as your plateau, that is normal. I have stayed the same weight for a week or two then all the sudden started losing again. Keeping your protein up will help with that as well as exercise, even just walking. I hope I have helped ease your mind some. Have a great day and keep up the great work! Amber 304/235/?

What do you eat on a daily basis and how much exercise are you doing? I had my surgery on 10/6/04, I've been between 255 and 260 for the last few weeks. I am 259.5 today, per the Dr's scale. help me be as successful as you have been. What are you doing? Help!

That is great! I have only lost 63lbs in 3 months, but I also believe men lose more and faster than women. I, too, have hit a no weight loss time for about 3 weeks, and have now started lossing again. Keep up the great work.

Hi Steve....I think your doing awesome!! Keep it up! I am a little over 3 months out and have lost 100 pounds. My Dr. says I am doing great. If she thinks I am doing great then I am not going to worry. I wouldn't worry if I was you. I too have had weeks where I have had trouble lossing. I increase my fluid intake and protein intake and I seem to kick back in lossing. Good luck!! Sabrina Click RNY 10/04/04 383/283/150ish
