Newbie to this board
Hi All,
Sorry I didnt realize there was a board for all us October babies .
Well I had my LAP RNY 10/1/04 with a starting pre-surgery weight of 395, no complications (knock on wood) and as of yesterday I weighed 317 with sweats and sneakers on!!!! I am still eating really small portions, struggling to get in as much liquid as I can, struggling to remember to take my vitamins/meds but I do get them in, and basically doing pretty good. I no longer get back pain when I walk and I can actually walk a good amount of time before getting tired. Before I could walk about 50 feet then the pain set in and I would have to stop and rest.
Now I go to the gym about 3/4 times a week and do strength training and cardio. I don't eat sugar (makes me dump) but eveerything else is good except doughy bread, noodles, and I have not tried rice either (chicken me).
I will try and be more active on this board now that I know it is here and hope everyone is doing well.
More later,
Presh in NY
Thanks Joe,
You are also doing very well I see. Isn't it exciting???? My husband purpsely bought me a nylon jogging suit 2 sizes too samll for Xmas and I couldn't close the jacket but could pull the pants on slightly tight. On Sunday I tried the suit on again and I could zip the jacket comfortably and the pants fit better too.
Amazing I tell ya,

Hi Maggie,
Well first off, my husband is a gym freak and we used to go together all the time so I learned all of my exercises from him. I use 8 lb free-weights now and do bicep curls and tricep lifts and shoulder raises. THen I do pulldowns on the nautilus, butterfly chest squeezes, leg curls and leg presses, abs, etc. I usually do this every other day and I am always sore the day after which tells me I am ripping new muscles. THis in turn helps to burn fat!!! Oh yeah, I do 3 sets of each exercise, like 10-15 reps each set.
Don't be afraid to use weights. You are far enough out from surgery to use them. My surgeon said fly with it and I have full clearance to do whatever exercise I can (She said that at about 8 or 9 weeks out). So I figure you are good to go too.
And you feel really good afterwards!!!! I hate cardio but I do it cause I know it is good for me.
Good luck to you too and now that I know about this board I will be around much more often.
See ya,
Elisa
