Sometimes I feel like I eat to much!!!! I will be fine with my eating, but then it seems like once in a while I can eat more then usual. Why is that? Usually after 1/3 cup I am full, but other times, it seems like I eat a cup of food! Anyone else have this? I am doing good weight wise. I had my surgery 10/5/05 and am down about 50 pounds. Any thoughts? Denise

I do the same thing. It must be normal. I think we get so used to eating the small amount ... that when we do eat the full cup our brain thinks we have ate 10 cups. ...lol...

Yup! Same here. Salad is one of those things I can eat a lot of. Ditto yogurt and applesauce. Dietician says the pouch is like a funnel. With stuff that is chewed really well and has no chunks or real bulk to it, it goes right through. She suggested that I eat fruit chunks with yogurt or toast or something WITH the yogurt so that it bulks it up somewhat.

I am experiencing this also there are certain foods that I can eat more of than others, Salad is one because the lettuce is mainly water and condenses well as you chew so that a small sallad from fast food restaurants can seem like a lot but condensed down to where it is like eating about two are three tablespoons depending what else is in the salad mix. I also think that since we have to adjust to eating less that when we eat more that 1/2 or 1/3 cup of food then we feel that we are overeating, I think in my case that is a fear that I am going to overeat and stretch the pouch. It can happen, and that is not what any of us want. I am blessed in one sence and that this surgery has illiminated my hunger, I am eating now to survive because I know I have to. However I noticed that boredom or depression I find that I want to nibble on something. My Physician said that I should move from eating about 500 calories a day to the point where I can eat about 1200 calories a day. However some are told that we can only eat about three ounces a food per meal for the rest of our lives. I can personally eat more than three ounces depending on what it is. I am tolerating some foods better than others. The main thing is that I have to watch the amount so that I don't overeat and fall back into the same old habbits. Sometimes I find it easier not to eat at all. but that is not good either. hang in there if you feel you are overeating, then chose something high protein and cut back a little if you must, just be careful and don't undereat.....It is important that we maintain diets, and now that we have undergone this surgery we want it to work. It was my last resort, I would hate to gain the weight back after having to go through this to lose it, but the main thing is to do the best that we can to maintain good health. I do not eat to feel full, I only eat till I feel satisfied. I have a habbit of eating to fast and that is one of the things that I am finding hard to change. But Chew the food slowly, make sure to take the vitamins, eat till your satisfied but not full, or uncomfortable

Denise, Sound pretty normal to me... I had surgery on 10/20/04... I too am like you... some days.. like today.. I had 1oz of hamburger patty and it didnt agree... and then less than 1oz slice of honeybake ham.. it is was sooo good... but that was all I was able to eat today... Then some days I can eat 3 meals and 2 snacks, trying to get in all my protein.. which is hard some days... on those days I feel like such a pig... but have managed to keep my calories below 700 everyday... So far I have lost 56 lbs and feel great... just worried about not getting in all the protein.. going to lose alot of hair.. BUMMER... From all the other posts I have read... it sounds like we are all on the right track and are experiencing pretty much the same thing... maybe it is our minds playing tricks on us... who knows? Well, hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas... Leslie 326/270/170
