I have been experiencing some pain like to the bottom right of my incision. I'm fine when standing and laying down. But sometimes when I move a certain way it is like a hot stabbing feeling. I thought maybe it was the muscle still healing, but it seems to be getting a little worse these days. It actually brought me to tears yesterday. Any thoughts? I'm feeling pretty good other than that though...no fever or anything. I am 7 weeks out.

Hi! My surgery was Oct 14, 04. You need to really call your physician who did the surgery, sounds like you have a problem he needs to check out. I am now 8 weeks out and have had no problems. Don't let a small problem becoming a bigger one and a phone a way relieves a worry mind. Karen

I am sorry you are in pain. Its possible it is your stomach healing or it could be a hernia. Check with your doctor at your next appt. I hope it stops bothering you soon.. Keep us updated.

I was experiencing the same sharp pain, almost like a knife. I called my nurse and she said sometimes you get adhesions where you are healing and they can cause that. She said to try and ride it out. I did have it on the left side and I must've overdone it one day, because I got another one on the right side. I had been watching the message boards closely to see if anyone else said anything similiar to what I was experiencing, and when I didn't, that's when I called the nurse. They are going away, now finally. Still a little sore, but not like it was, that's for sure! I would still call your drs. office, just in case, but hopefully, that's all it is. Hope you feel better!

I had a pain like this, in my upper right side about an inch from the incision line. I asked my surgeon, because it was like being shot with a spear gun! He said it was a suture that pulled when I moved a certain way, and the best thing to do was massage the spot in the shower, while the skin was wet and slippery. This way the area around the suture would generate scar tissue, which wouldn't be as sensitive. It probably would have fixed itself eventually, but this helped it clear up faster.

I had the same pain as you described - I had a regularly scheduled follow-up with my surgeon, but I almost called him a few days before because I was close to tears with this pain! He said I had overworked my abs too soon and it was similar to a pulled muscle. Like the pp said, he told me to ride it out and it went away a few days later. He told me to skip the ab machines at the gym and to give them a break for a week or so. Good luck!

funny you shuold mention that this week, I am 8 weeks out now and for the past three days have had a similar pain though not as intense as you describe. it is about an inch from my main suture line, and feels like it is deep in the muscle. it is not constant but feels like a pulled muscle feels ,a dull intense pain when I move in a certain way. it is usually worse in the mornings than the evenings. I called my surgeon today just incase and am awaiting a call back. I have had no other pain or complications and this has surprised me comming in the 8th week. I have also noticed that I am finding it much harder to eat my evening meal this past 4 or 5 days than previously. no idea why that is though.
