Hi, my surgery was the day before you. At three weeks I stopped losing. It lasted for almost 3 weeks. And then about 2 weeks ago my weight loss ended again. Now this week its started again. It seems to go that every 10 lbs. my body stops and recuperates. Its frusterating but I try to remind myself, patience, the journey just began a few months ago. I've lost 43 lbs.

Great question I am not happy that we all seem to hit plateaus, but it is comforting knowing that we all are hitting them and it is not just us failing. It seems that for 10 days the scale doesn't move then BAM 4 - 5 #'s down in 2 - 3 days. Then the dreaded period and 3 - 4 #'s gained, only to be gone when period is over. And wouldn't ya know I have my office visit tomorrow and I am on my period...MWAHHHHH. Let's keep helping each other through the good and rough spots. Who better to ask than someone who is on the same journey! Peace Sheryl

Hi Shell, By reading these other posts, it looks like we are all in the same boat. I had surgery on 10/19/04, and I have lost 41 lbs. I keep gaining a bit and then losing it, but the scale just doesn't seem to be moving in the right direction. I really need to stop weighing myself daily. For the most part I get in all of my protein and fluids and exercise on the exercise bike when my migraine permits - I usually exercise 4-5 times a week. I hit a plateau that lasted about 3 weeks and then I lost a few lbs. and now I seem to be stuck again. Oh well - I know that it will eventually come off, but that still doesn't make it any easier. I just want the scale to keep moving in the right direction!! I do keep track of my protein, carbs, calories, fats, etc on fitday.com Check it out it might help. I have heard that if we don't get in enough calories that we will not lose - that might be my problem some of the time. Good luck to you and Happy Holidays! Take care. Rachella

Bless every single one of your dear, sweet hearts. I have been FREAKING OUT because I've not lost a stinken' ounce in two weeks. "How can I fail already???" I've been barking in my head. "Did I get sliced open and my guts rearranged for NOTHING??" Thanks to you all, I feel much better. The stinking scale will start going down again, it will, it will, it will. The hardest part is all the people that know about the surgery and keep asking me how much I've lost...day to day...like it's going to change....

Shell, I had my surgery the same day as you and I plataued at 2 months and didn't lose anything for like 3 weeks then I started losing again for 2 weeks and now I have not lost anything for the last week. I think it is normal around this time to hit the platau. it will pick up again. You'll see, the next you know you'll have lost 10lbs in 1 week. Take Care! Angel 10/05/04 Lap RNY -40lbs

Oh Man, I am feeling better too! I had my surgery on Oct 25, 2004, and have lost 51 pounds.. but it seems since I started my period last week, I have been at a stand still.. Really making me emotional and sad.. But now I know that there are others in the same boat makes me feel better.. I have been kicking my butt at the gym every other day too!! Someone mentioned too about getting too little calories in.. How many calories should we be getting in? My doc did not tell me this, so I feel bad if I go over 400.. should I be shooting for something else?? Maybe that will help jumpstart my weight loss again..
