Update- ER visit
I had my surgery on Oct 21st. IM just over 5 weeks out.
About a week ago, I landed myself in the ER(at home- my surgeon is in Detroit, 6 hours away)
I was severely dehydrated and worried about a possible stricture because I was vomitting everything I ate. I was able to eat things like milk, mashed potato, etc but then a few days later couldnt handle any of it.
At one point, I couldnt even manage the tea and popsicles, so I called Detroit, who wanted me to come in right away, but I couldnt.
I went to the local ER, with instructions that my surgeon needed to be called before anyone did anything to me. I was put on IV fluids, that took 12 pokes to get in. Yes, I said 12!
The surgeon on call came in and was extremely rude. He asked why I was even there if my surgeon was in Detroit and that he knew nothing about gastric bypass. He said he didnt like cleaning up other surgeons messes. *eye roll* Me being dehydrated has nothing to do with my surgeons work.
Anyway, I sat in the ER from1 pm until 10pm, waiting for them to find me a room. The whole time, my wonderful surgeon was calling my house to see how I was. See, I didnt go there because I thought I would have to pay out of pocket since it wasnt part of my surgery. (Im Canadian)
So, the next day, feeling much better from being hydrated, I call my surgeon. The wonderful man left me his personal cell #. I explain that Im extremely uncomfortable letting this @ss scope me and that I felt better and was tolerating ice and water. He said go home, dont get scoped, he called my insurance and got me coverage should it happen again so I can just go to him. I went back to liquids for a few days, and tried a yogurt and eggs that stuck with me. Still trying to get all the water in!
Last I checked, about 1 1/2 weeks ago I was down 25lbs. Im going to check again on Monday to see if Ive lost anymore.
Im not oding good with protein as IM afraid it will make me sick but at this point i think the water is more important?
