Hello Everyone
My name is Leslie, I just wanted to introduce myself and say Hello to my fellow Oct surgery buddies... I have been posting on the CO board for about 5 months now...
I had my surgery on Oct 20th... tomorrow I will be 4 weeks out and im down 36lbs... I started out at 326... I have been sick a couple of times from eating too much too fast.. Old habits die hard... LOL... as im sure some of you have experienced...
I was wondering if any of you have had this problem... My top left incision opened up... and I now have a hole the size of a quarter and about an inch deep... it was oozing dark brown almost black cottage cheese like stuff... My Dr. said it was dead fat... well that is all gone and now it is draining a yellowish clear substance... I know it was infected, because I had a very nasty foul smell... enough to make me sick.. But I started using a syringe and flushing it out with peroxide... and it has started getting alot better... Thank goodness I had some antibiotics left over I have started to take them and believe I am finally starting to heal up... Why I wonder my Dr. never found it necessary to prescribe antibiotics? Thank goodness I have a friend who is a surgical wound care nurse and informed me of what I needed to do... or it could have become a real nasty problem...
Well, other than that, I feel GREAT.... getting more and more energy everyday... and I should be thankful that the only problem I have had is the incision... I sure know there could have been so many more complications...
Well, Thanks all for listening.... Hope to hear from everyone and keep in touch...
Leslie
WOW!!! No, I have not had that problem at all and I am truly sorry that you have! It's a good thing that you do have a good friend who could advise. I, too, wonder why your surgeon did not prescribe antibiotics. Did you go for an office visit, or just call! I find it startling, to be honest!!
Was your surgery laproscopic?
Mine was open -- and the incision (strangly enough!) was 5-1/2 inches after surgery. But it's now 4-3/4 inches (my belly seems to be where most of the inches are fading from first).
Hope you're doing well, and that you can find some answers from your surgeon.
