Hello, I am 3 weeks out and haven't lost a pound in 2 weeks! I lost 20lbs my first week and thought my body would stall to catch itself up, but this is getting crazy. I have emailed my dietician to get her thoughts. I am wondering if I am eating too much. I get in around 800 calories a day, but half of those come from my milk drinking. Anyone else doing the same thing?

Hi Jennie, I am 5 weeks out and haven't lost an ounce in a little over 2 weeks. I'm hoping my body is just trying to catch up with its self also. Until about a week ago I felt sick all the time. My dietition said I wasn't eating enough. She was right, I do feel better with more food but now my weight is up 1.5 lbs. I think I need to be more active. I still have weakness and light headed from the surgery. I'm hoping to be cleared to start exercise when I go back for my 6 week check up. I don't think 800 calories is to much if your moving around as much as you can tolerate. Barbara

Am 5 weeks out and have lost 27 post surgery plus 10 presurgery. Seems like it should be more (lost 23 the first two weeks) - especially when others in the WA board have lost 30-35. I guess that is close. I'm not able to get around much yet, so hope that is what is going on and that once more weight comes off, it'll be easier to get out and walk. The surgeon's office said some people lose the most the 1st weigh in, others more on the 2nd weigh in - (I only lost -.9 # on the 2nd weigh in). So, everybody is different. I just try to remember that it WILL come off sooner or later, and that it won't be overnight - but sooner than later. It doesn't sound like you're eating too much - I wonder if I'm eating enough so the body doesn't think I'm starving.

I had my surgery on the 22nd and im at a stall too lost 18 first 3 weeks out and ive not lost anything in a week now also. I have also heard of this hybernation ting and i think thats the key thign to why we stall around now. The body thinks its staving soo it goes into a lil sleep mode when the body wakes up realizes that the food it used to get is not going to happen it will be forced to start burning reserves I SOOOO HOPE MY BODY IS SMARTER than me and realizes this real quick lol.

Hey Deborah, I hit a plateau on my second week out of surgery, but I have started loosing again, thank goodness. My first week I had lost 19 lbs., and I stayed there forever, it seemed. Now I am down a total of 26.

I am 5 wks out and down 38lbs. I dont know what the secret is but I was totally shocked at my results. I am exercising at least 3 times a week(walking).Hang in there it has to get better. My surgeon wants me to lose30 more lbs by my 3 mth visit and that is kind of scary but i am willing to try as hard as i can to achieve this. i dump on sugar so that helps me out alot too. It will happen for you I am sure of it.

Know what? This board is SUCH a help -- if only for finding out that everything you are experiencing seems to be repeated through a great number of us. I have lost 31 pounds since this surgery (October 25 - 3 weeks, 1 day). However, since my first post-op visit (November 3), I've only lost 5.5 pounds. I sit here wondering what in the world is going on!! (Hence why I say I feel that I've had a 'placebo' g-b surgery!) Of course there's the voice of reason that says "Duh, you WILL lose weight, quit thinking it's going to be 10 pounds a week!" And then there's the evil voice inside that says "It AIN'T working!" Apparently, I'm not alone in my fears and concerns. And I do believe I will take Danielle's advice and SERIOUSLY try to increase water and protein. Thanks, Danielle! We've all just got to stick together. I love the way this forum become quite the place to turn when fears rise. Thanks to everyone for just being there/here! -- Darcy

My dietician emailed me back on Monday and told me to get in the full 75g of protein a day and to eat a minimum of 800 calories. Some days I was only getting in about 600. She said if you eat to little calories that it can stall your weight loss. I have followed her suggestions since Monday and in 3 days have lost 7lbs! Thanks for all your replies. I do plan on joining a local gym tomorrow and walking on the treadmill during my lunch hour everyday. That should help the weight to continue to drop. Thanks again!
