Hi--I'm 2 weeks out and eating mushies. Needing to take a business trip next week I asked the Doctor at my post op for any tips he could suggest. What he suggested would apply to all--not just my trip! Don't eat anything in public that you haven't tried at home. Don't try your first hamburg or beef in public. Try to have a sip or two of wine when you sit down. By the time your meal comes, your band will relax a bit and eating should be o.k. No vegetables or salad--even if chopped up. Most restaurants have mashed potatoes! I hope these tips are helpful to you, too. Joan F. 271/227/??

Sophia, hello! I think it's ok for lap banders to have wine b/c they don't dump as easily as we RNY-ers......I'd skip the wine, and try some mashed taters! Enjoy! Claudia

Have also heard that a lifesaver for dining out is SOUP. Its easy to get in, the vegetables are softer and there is maybe a bit more food there to 'drink' while others are eating their meals. Had some soup last night and it was refreshing not to have to slow waaayyy down to avoid
