Hi Risa, First, don't worry about the fact that you gained a few lbs. after coming home. My doctor said that was very normal and will change soon. Now you have one less thing to worry about! You must remember that this surgery takes time. Try to concentrate on healing right now, not losing. Please don't forget that you had a very major surgery.... not just your tooth pulled! Try to relax some, you did not make a mistake, just be patient the rewards will soon be revealed. Is your diet clear liquids or full liquids? Let me know and maybe I can help you come up with some tastier things. Hope to hear from you soon, Amber

Hi Risa, Have you tried broth? At first I hated the chicken broth, but then it was kind of tasty. Or beef broth (which I didn't try). Or, you could just take a can of soup and strain out the noodles, vegetables or whatever, and drink the soup juice. I was allowed 1 oz of juice at a time, and I found that cranberry juice really went down well. It tasted good, too. Hope this helps. ~Cathy

I have two suggestions that helped me: Egg Drop Soup (at home I think you just boil chicken broth and crack in an egg and stir) Bean with Bacon condensed soup: I add a can of skim milk (no****er), then stick it in the blender to break up as much of the beans as possible (to beef up the protein), then strain it and eat it that way. It is quite satisfying! Good luck -- you will feel better when you progress to pureed food!

Hello Sophia and others, I am a November pre-op, and have been lurking to see some words of wisdom from you new post-ops. I have been learning a lot. I wanted to reply to this particular message to say thank you VERY much. I have been looking for a long list of things to get now so I will have them after the surgery. I am going to paste your ideas into a post for the November surgery boards. Thanks again for taking the time to post the great info! Lori

I believe it maybe more items but I am not sure what they are. If I do come across another list I will be more then happy to list those items as well. Sophia

The best think I found is called "Better than Bouillon". It is in the bouillon cube soup section (I got mine at Vons, also at Trader Joe's). It is really good!!! Way better than chicken broth or even the liquid of Chicken Noodle Soup. It has tiny, tiny pieces of real chicken in it so you actually feel like you are eating something substantial. Good luck!
