Poll for all October post-ops.... please.
I'm 16 days post op.
My post op meds are soluable previcid. I also take Zoloft and Synthryoid which I took pre-op also.
My Surgeon does not start vitamins until 4 weeks post op because he feels they may irritate your new pouch. Then 2 children's chewable multivitamins and b12 shots. He does not approve protein supplements. He feels they are too high in calories and rather you get your protein from food.
I was on clear liquids for 5 days, then full liquids for 3 days then pureed for 1 week. Today I'm eating a "soft" diet whi*****ludes moist chicken, fish, bread, pasta, rice, egg, cheese canned or fully cooked vegs except "gaseous" ones, - almost anything but need to CHEW VERY VERY CAREFULLY!! Avoid nuts, spicy foods, high fiber foods.
Wow.. very weird feeling to have to chew food again. I measure all meals carefully. Usually 2oz meals 3-5 times a day with at least 1oz each meal of "high protein"food and I eat my protein first. Liquids 48 - 64oz day - and that includes water, broth, tea, coffee, (decaf) diet lemonades, etc.
Hope that helps.
Hi Amber,
I take:
2 Flinstone vitamins
4 Chewable Pepcid Complete
2 Viactin (chewable calcium)
Chewable Gas-x, prn
2 meds I took pre-op
Liquid Lortab for pain
As far as eating I am on a Full Liquid Diet for 6 weeks. I eat lots of yogurt, ff refried beans, cheese, applesauce, cream of wheat, instant potatoes, buttermilk, sf popsicles, and of course a lovely protein shake. The protein drinks are the only thing I have problems getting down. I am suppose to drink 65 grams worth of protein and I usually get 40 ounces in a day plus all of the other liquids (water, decaf tea with splenda, sf koolaide).
I find it so interesting how many different post-op plans their are out there. I am not aloud to have red meat or bread for 1 year. I start some meats at week 7 like chicken, turkey, and fish. Take Care!

Hello-
I lerk mostly but I thought I should respond. I am taking my levoxyl that i have had pre op and a optisource vitiams. They are the best to me cause you get everything plus 1/2 your needed protein, and they are only about $25 per month. worth it to me instead of buying all different pills and spending that anyhow. As far as eating I am on a hit a miss kinda thing, what i can eat one day i can not the next . Having a really hard time with food. I have found I have to eat at least 4 times a day or i can not get the next meal down. But I was basicly eating apple sauce and yourgart and the dr said he wants me to eat more then this. He wants me to try more and more to get my self out of the rut. I had a few cheese crackers and they were good. I need stuff that is fast and easy i have a 18 month old and a 2.5 month old. No time for making everyone there own meal.

Hi, I am 2 weeks and 2 days post op. For vitamins I take 2 IronKids chewables a day, 2 Viactiv Chews, and a mL of liquid B12. For medications I take 450 mg of Wellbutrin a day, so 2 75mg tablets 3 times a day. I was also put back on Xanax and Ambien as needed. The only thing that bothers my tummy is the Viactiv Chews.
I feel like I eat a lot, but I recently stopped keeping track of caloric intake, but I usually average 65g of protein a day.

Vits- 2 chewable kids
b12 sublingual 1250 Micrograms
2 Viactive chewable calcium all daily
thats it for vits, some docs suggest more I guess
Protein-shooting for 40 g (I'm 5" and they go by height)
water/other cal free-shooting for 64oz (usually get 55-60)
Still on pureed and RUNNING OUT OF VARIETY!!!!!! Head hunger is terrible with all the halloween candy around. I am looking soooo forward to reg food, even if it is very limited amounts.
A month out and I'm bored with my diet. I'm not patient. I was on the clear liquids for two weeks. I got so tired of jello and broth. Then moved to pureed which was fine for 2 weeks. I ate what others listed, cottage cheese, refried beans, soups, baby food fruit. I am so tired of it now. My doctor said I can try other foods but every solid food I've tried comes back up. I am eating about 1/4 cup per meal and seem to do best if I eat every three hours. I try to eat mainly protein foods because I haven't found a shake or drink, ensure, fortify or any of that stuff that agrees with me. I did try soy nuts yesterday and they do go okay and very high in protein but I want to try regular meals. Well thats how I got where I am. I was on wellbutrin XL before surgery and was told I couldn't have it after surgery. It couldn't be broken. Well I tried to get a message to the person who prescribed it about changing it but he never did. So I haven't had it for a month. I finally saw him last week and he prescribed regular Wellbutrin. Well I broke it and its the worse tasting pill I had. So I'm just not taking it any more. I'm still taking Centrum Liquid vitamins. They aren't bad. Just a table spoon once a day. Everyday is a challenge.

The goal is get in 70g of Protein a day. I am on Stage 3 diet which is Pureed with adding new foods like yogurt and smoothies. No meat yet. I usually eat a little bit of soup and a popsicle a day. I drink a lot of SF lemonade. I'm having a hard time with the protein, but I'm working on it. The only time I feel hungry or slugglish is when I haven't had enough protein. Once I get in some protein, I feel great.
I have just read all the replys to your message and I am amazed at how diverse each physician is. I would think there would be some similarities, but there aren't many. I am 3 weeks post-op. I had some complications so I was on nothing for 3 days then ice chips for 1 day then on the 5th day I started clear liquids. I had no problems. On day 8 I started full liquids. I have absolutely no problems except boiled egg. I can eat eggs "fried" in Pam without any problem.
My meds are:
2 Flinstone Complete Vitamins a day (It has the iron and B12)
2 Tums a day
Effexor 75mg I used to take 2 at a time, but now I do it twice a day.
(They are capsules and I have no problems)
Lasix 40mg 2 twice a day (Pre-op and Post-op)
Potassium 8 mEq 3 times a day (Huge capsule)
Catapress 3mg patch each week
Cyclobenzaprine 10mg 3 times a day (For my Fibromyalgia)
I can't advance my diet until after Dec. 2nd per my surgeon. I'm now eating Lean ground beef (chewed well) I can only eat 2-3 tiny bites. I eat Yogurt, Skim Milk, Noodles...No problems. So far I'm not hungary at all.
