Med's question

Hi everyone. I have a call in to my surgeon's office, but thought I would check with you guys too. I have checked my no-no list and cannot find anything about Prevacid. Does anyone know if it is safe to take after surgery? I am still having gas pains. I am walking. I woke up with them this am. I have tried children's mylicon but it does not seem to give me any relief. Remember, I am a little over 3 weeks out. Can my pouchie take gas-x or phasyme. I am coming down with a cold, stuffed & runny nose, sore throat, etc. What does everyone take that is effective? TIA Sheryl

Hello, My Dr. let me take Pepcid right away, and suggested Mylanta for gas. I had surgery on 10.12.04 and use the Pepcid everyday 2'xs a day and the Mylanta when needed. Sherrie -23

Hi Sheryl! I have been taking Gas-X since 2 days after surgery. Doctor recommended it and prevacid but I had always taken Pepcid Complete prior to surgery so they had me continue to take it only 2 am and 2pm 40mg. I suck on the Gas-x cherry flavor and it helps alot. But every doctor is different. Always best to check with them for the official answer. Have a Good one! Jen.

Hi Sheryl, I had surgery 10/18 , and I take Prilosec. I have to open the capsules and sprinkle in my Boost, but it helps. Couldn't live with out it! I know te pouch can't dissolve the capsule, and the insides of the pill are coated to be released in the intestines at different times. Good luck, always a good Idea to check with your Doc! Robin R

have you tried tums. their allowed and the fruit flavors are delicious.

Sheryl, When I left the hospital I was originally on Pepcid. I had terrible heart burn and found that it wasn't working well for me. My doctor took me off of the Pepcid and put me on Prevacid. It works great for me and I haven't had any problems. Good Luck. Tiffany
