8 days since surgery at deaconess hospital in cincinnati
I am home. Surgery was very difficult. Hospital stay was extremely difficult. I had complication. Bleeding in pouch, Throwing up blood, needed 2 units, had to have a tube put back in my nose to suck the blood out of my new pouch. I needed upper GI and chest xray to check for leakage. It has been scarry. I just yesterday have started on soft foods, full liquids. I think it's had. Is anyone else suffering with bad case of nerves? Thanks for listening. Vicki Herper
Hello Vicki, I'm glad that you are home it always makes me feel better to be safe at home. I'm sorry you have had such a difficult time since surgery. I am praying for you. Just keep faith in God and things will get better. He is always there for us. I had my first upset tummy last night since surgery (Oct. 26th, also). It felt as if someone had their foot on my sternum. Nothing would go up or down. I was so scared that I had drank too much at once and ruptured my pouch or something. It is a very scarey feeling because we cannot see what is going on. We just know something is not right. I just kept praying for God to take care of me and he did. Just know that we are thinking of you. If you need anyone to talk to just email me. I'm here. Not that I know much! But I can share my experiences.

Dear Jen:
Thanks for your note. Today was much improved. I got in about 5 meals. Yogurt, oatmeal, protein drink, and a little of cream of potato. Tonight I have had just been very hyper. I have walked around the inside of my house and tried to keep busy. I have been enjoying decaf iced tea sweetened with spenda. Tell me about some of the things you are doing and eating.
Thanks, Vicki
Vicki,
I hope you feel better soon. My heart goes out to you, I am one month out tomorrow and I know the first couple of weeks were tough for me with no complications so I read what you have gone through and I feel very fortunate. Take care of yourself and before you know it all the uncomfortable parts will all be over!!
Nina
Nina,
Thanks for your note. I got up at 6:00 this morning. This has never happened to me. I managed to get in 5 decent meals today. I didn't seem to have trouble taking my medicines today. Drinking seemed to be easy. I did feel truly tired late this afternoon. Before the surgery, I slept a lot and never truly felt tired or rested. My back has been hurting a little. I remember this from the other abdominal surgeries. I have taken myself off of the prescription meds. They make me feel out of control. Take care of yourself and remind me of this day when hopefully we will both feel 100% better. Thanks, Vicki
