My surgery date was Oct 25 and I am finally up and around. I really didn't expect it to be as bad as it has been pain and mobility wise. The pain medication gave me terrible headaches, so I have not taken anything for pain since returning home from hospital. Thank God the procedure is over and I have the first week safely tucked away. The tube came out yesterday along with 12 of the 25 staples. The remainder of the staples come out later this week. I am down 20 lbs in a week, but don't notice it because of the discomfort and inability to wear normal fitting pants yet. On the bright side, with everyday comes progress- and for that I am grateful. Yesterday I started on hot morning cereal - oh the fabulous taste of anything other than consumme. I look forward to resuming a more normal life soon, but in a smaller size. Thanks to those of you who e-mailed me best wishes. Being up in Canada is a little lonely for a Bariatric Surgery Patient because it is not a common procedure up here. I was fortunate to have my surgery paid for in the US, due to the 6-7 year wait for it in Canada. Anyway, thanks for the kind words, every little bit helps. Jody

Jody The first week is the pitts, but it gets significantly better each day. I'm 4 weeks out and today I feel 100%. I've lost 29 lbs. and have been experimenting with solid foods SLOWLY. Just take one day at a time. And listen to your body. If you need rest, take a nap. If you can walk, exercise. You'll get there. Joanne

Jody, I'm two weeks out and feel great. It does get better, Try liquid extra strength tylenol to help with the pain.20 lbs thats fantastic! I'm down 17 but thats 2 weeks. My dr has a strict program, and I just started 6 oz of SOFT food today, every 2 weeks you add something else. It'll be fish , then 2 more weeks chicken and turkey, then finally beef and pork. He eventually wants 50-60 gr protein a day and 64 oz of fluid. Hang in there! Robin
