Wendy,
I had my surgery on June 29, some of the stuff that I had was broth, surger free pudding, surger free jello, surger free popsicles (they feel really good on the new pouch), oatmeal, malt-o-meal, and my protein drink (which always took me all day, and always left me full).
After the first couple of weeks I was able to do soft scrambled egg, and sometimes I puree what ever I made for my family.
You can also do canned soups, like cream of mushroom, potatoe, cream of chicken, just make sure that you puree them to make them smooth.
If I can be of any more help please feel free to e-mail me.
Good luck and congratulations,
Jan
Hi Wendy,
My Docs protocol is pretty strict and there is ABSOLUTLY no diverging from it. Its like this:
H20, crystal lite, fruit2o, fruit20ice, lfls broth, sf popsicls, herb tea, decaf coffee/tea artificial sweetener can be added. Those are the Free Liquids
Boost, Ensure, Diet Carnation instant breakfast with fat free milk, slimfast, atkins ready to drink, are the proteins and calories limited to 6 oz daily. Period, thats it for 2 weeks, after that the next stage is soft foods, but I won't be there till Nov2 since I had surgery the same day as you.
Be careful and protect your pouch!
Blessings~ Robin
Wendy, here is my list for today:
B - 1 oz light yogurt with scoop of protein powder, 1 oz s/f applesauce, 1 oz cranberry juice.
L - 2 oz fat free refried beans, 1 oz s/f applesauce
S - nibbles of some beef jerky (mostly chewed and spit it out to get the too-sweet taste out of my mouth)
D - 1 scrambled egg, 1 oz s/f pudding
I've had 24 oz of orange crystal light and 10 oz of water so far.
Before bed I'll have a protein shake made with 8 oz. f/f lactaid milk, 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder and 1/2 banana.
I had the fobi pouch and my doctor is pretty strict. The first 2 weeks clear liquids only, sugarfree popcycles, broth, crystal lite, some juices, sugarfree jello. It was hard. Protein shakes come the end of the second week. He doesn't ask you to buy any, he has you use skim milk, sugar free Carnation instant breakfast and you add powdered milk to it. Then after the second week you can add creamed soups(I added grated cheese for extra protein), cottage cheese, runny potatoes, pureed fruit, things like that. Cream of wheat, those sort of things. 4th week you can add pureed meat and vegetables. Eggs are still away down the way. So now into my fourth week I had cream of wheat cereal with mashed banana, mashed potatoes, with beef droppings on them, cottage cheese with babyfood peaches and 4 ounces of juice and so far 16 ounces of water. I've tried chicken and it went down okay, the turkey didn't go over good. I only eat 1-2 ounces of anything. You would think I would be lossing quickly but only a steady pound a day.
I am 3 weeks post-op. Today was my 1st day back to work. Here is what I had:
B- 6oz skim milk with carb control carnation instant breakfast
L- 2oz tuna with light mayo on slice of american cheese
S- 2oz light cottage cheese with 5 Ritz crackers
64ounces of Raspberry Crystal Light
today I took the stairs instead of the elevator! I am down 22 pounds.
Good Luck to everyone!
