Surgery on 10-6-04
Hi all .. I havent really posted for awhile. But I just wanted to let you all know that as long as you go into it with a good attitude, you will do fine.
I was real scared, since I hadnt had any surgeries before, and had no clue as to what to expect. After my failed psych exam, and then my having to go to counseling for awhile, I think that helped me to get my mind focused and on the right track to really wanting to make this work.
I had surgery on 10-6, and ended up having to have my gallbladder out too, at the same time. Other than the gallbladder being stubborn about coming out (smile), I did fine -- no complications at all. I wont lie though, there was alot of pain when I woke up. However, they will give you pain meds to take care of that right away. I was released on 10-9.
I am usually not hungry, and have to remind myself at times TO EAT! (imagine that) I wish there was more on the list of foods that I can have right now, but otherwise I am doing great. I stick to that list and havent gotten sick, or had any 'dumping syndrome' either.
I plan on taking as much time to re-coop here at home as I can, before going back to work. I dont want to go back too soon and regret it.
I am glad I have had the surgery - dont regret it at all. I had the lap surgery, so the incisions are small and healing very nicely as well.
Anyway -- to those of you who havent had the surgery yet -- just stay focused and keep a good attitude, and you will do fine. Make sure you have a good circle of friends who will be your support group. Your support group will be your lifeline. And if you have actual support groups to attend, I'd suggest going to those as well. Good luck to ya!!!
