HAS ANYONE HAD ANY PROBLE...
HAS ANYONE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH A FATTY LIVER.I AM DIABETIC AND THE DR. SAID THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE FATTY LIVER. I HAD A LIVER ENZYME THAT WAS HIGH AND MY DR. SAID THIS MIGHT INDICATE A FATTY LIVER. I HAD AN ULTRA SOUND ON MY LIVER & GALL BLADDER, DON'T KNOW THE RESULTS YET. I HAVE BEEN ON THE FULL LIQUID DIET FOR 6 WEEKS NOW, DR. SAID THIS WOULD HELP. HAS ANYONE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS? I WAS SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY ON THE 19TH OF OCT. BUT BECAUSE OF THIS MY DR. RESCHEDULED FOR NOV. 10TH.
HI Pam I had my ultrasound show also that I have a fatty liver. My Dr. said it isn't anything to worry about..but i worry about everything, i am not a diabetic but this was a concern of mine., he told me it is a very common thing..I am 75 lbs oberweight now because i lost 25 from nerves..., i was on the lower end of the weight scale. but i have alot of other co mobitities. asthma, arthritis, high hyperlipidemia(cholesterol), and obesity...that us enough for me...so i hope that this is just a comon thing for both our sakes...Lori let me know what you find out.
Hi Pam,
As I understand it, the reason for concern about a fatty liver is because they have to lift it up during surgery to get a clear field for the stomach. That's why they want it to be as small as possible. If your doctor recommends open, then he's probably making a wise decision in order to make surgery as easy on you as possible. Of course, my surgeon automatically put in a disclaimer before surgery that an open was always an option. I understand that people with open rny's do just as well as those with lap as far as recovery.
