October 4th surgery

Hello to all who have had surgery, I came home on Wed morning with no complications what so ever, except waiting for the doc to take the draining tube out. The first 48 were hard because I was tired from being in the hospital and wakened up every 1/2 hour hour. Those 48 hours after being home was different. I would try to drink and it hurt. I would eat and it would hurt. On Friday I started to get my energy back. Still not doing anything except walking around the house. Sometimes I start to feel dizzy just sitting still. No major pain. I refer to the pain sometimes as a minor stomach ache. But only Tylenol w/ codine to take. I feel like I constantly sip and eat and feel like I am not getting in the proper proteins and liquids in. I guess this is normal. Hope everyone had a good surgery. Lots of luck to us all. Cynthia

Hang in there. My dietician and physician have both told me that I will not be able to get all of the protein they tell me I need. All you can do is your best; the important thing is to listen to your body. I learned that from my rough few days post op. I am finally feeling better and I just keeping counting down the days until I can have some real food! Just don't push your body to do things it isn't ready for. No two patients go through this the same!
