New here, Sugery 10/21
Hello, I didnt realize there were monthly boards. I think I will like being around ppl having surgery the same month, as its nice to compare and go through similar things.
Im Debbie. 27, mom of two girls. Hailey is 6 and Greenlee is 2. I have a major hernia(by major I mean 1/2 my stomach is in my chest) Dr. Genaw at Henry Ford will repair the hernia and do rny. Hes going to start lap but thinks he may have to switch to open due to the hernia. It all depends on how big the hole is.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
Hi Debbie,
Good Luck on your up coming surgery. Mine in on the 19th of Oct. I'm 49 and live in Tennessee. I have 4 kids ,all grown up. my daughter is in Michigan with her Dad, going to school right now. She is my youngest 18 in Nov this year. Are you having your surgery at Henry Ford in Detroit? That is one of the best hospitals to have it in, again good luck and God Bless You!
Pat
Thanks, Ill take all the luck I can get, lol.
Yes, Im going to Henry Ford in Detroit . I have to travel about 6 hours to get there as Im from Ontario, Canada. There are only 5 or so bariatric surgeons in Ontario and the wait is 5-8 years just for a consult. My Health care covered my surgery out of country because of the wait
I was very impressed with HFH. I walked in the doors and just stared, lol. I think its one of the top bariatric programs in the US!
Hi Debbie,
My surgery is scheduled for 10/19. I am excited and nervous as well. I know that is normal. I have a 7 year old daughter named Brooklynn Skye. I also like unusual names. I just turned 36 on 10/7. This is a great birthday present to me. I only have to travel 3 hours for my surgery, but the hotel bill is going to be so expensive! It will cost me more than the surgery!!
Good luck to you and have a safe surgery.
Best Wishes,
Rachella
